ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Accessories

I agree there should be accessories or other things that add effects to your character. I think they should be conditional tho for balancing sake. But there shouldnt be that many. For example, I think WoW has a little too many. I think 2-4 would be fine. Camkam The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.52.223.64 (talk • contribs) at 21:17, 23 August 2008 (UTC).

Effect accessories

moved from ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/rings, necklaces and bracelets OH MY!

Please come up with better reasons why this suggestion won't work besides: "GW is not WoW". Thank you azaleachat 15:05, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Well sorry it's the fuckin truth. Napalm Flame 14:04, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

I like the idea, but I (and probably others) would prefer the accessories mentioned be purely cosmetic, rather that giving bonuses (or all accessories giving a flat bonus of the same type). Sort of keeping in line with current GW equipment standards and keeping out the dreaded "WoW-ness". --Valentein 14:46, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Someone's a friggin potty mouth. Fine then, if you cant think of any other way it'd be related to WoW (I didn't even know it had jewelry in it) then you're basically saying it's a good idea, but unoriginal, right? azaleachat 18:38, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
No, here's why. WoW jewellery and armor mods/bonuses DOMINATE the game, in GW as long as you have max armor and runes you're fine. Napalm Flame 14:14, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Well, the "jewelery" slot could just be considered an additional armour slot, with all the restrictions thereof (easily obtainable max bonus, prestige jewelery only has cosmetic differences). The idea that a certain type of jewelery required to use a specific skill is an interesting one, especially when you consider the original concept for GW's skill system. As for origniality... well, any MMO that offers jewelery is going to be unoriginal. I know Ultima Online had it, and that's been around since '97. --Valentein 23:00, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, Napalm (I'm not being sarcastic, either). That is the kind of negative response we're all looking for! I added it to the article. (Diablo II also had rings and amulets) azaleachat 18:35, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

For the anti-WoW sentiment: jewelry exists in Diablo already, so both Blizzard and Anet have some right to that system :). Personally I'd say consider having jewelry only for aesthetics, not to give bonuses. But I don't find it necessary. --Tenshi Samshel 18:50, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
