ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Don't remove DP -- Change it

DP is ok as it is now. If you die too often, rethink your builds and playstyle. I have no problems with DP when going H/H, and only in a few hard places with PUGs. Sometimes I have to study the enemies a bit, and change my heroes builds, but that's all. Even if you gain too much death penalty, gaining 75 xp will take away 1%, killing bosses or gaining a morale boost in another way removes 2%, there are tons of easily acquirable items who remove DP, and you can micro your heroes to pre-prot you. It's very easy to overcome DP, and many people actually do, so there's absolutely no problem. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. --Sir Bertrand 09:45, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Speaking of changes, the DP system in GW is one of the things i don't like. Let's suppose lag happends, or the client crashes in the middle of the pull, or you just did something stupid. 15% usually is not much, but in some zones it makes a difference, and 15% less means you may end quickly at 60% (specially if h/H), and at that point is usually faster to just go back to the city than trying to build enough exp for recovery (well, you can always "cheat" with consumables, but we don't like them... no, we don't, my precioussss...).
Since we still need a "death penalty" in the game, and since persistant zones will be added (and hopefuly, instanced zones will allow players to freely enter and exit within a timeframe), i am more of a fan of having something along the lines of a "corpse run". Is a bit harsher in the sense that you become almost useless while naked, but also means that you can recover and be ready as soon as you pick your corpse, instead of wating time building exp for regaining your combat hability at 100%. I don't see it happening on GW2 anyways, but a man can dream :).--Fighterdoken 00:31, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I think that you should get dp away if you pay a price. If you pay 2500gold then it would remove 30% death penalty.--Rated Five 22:41, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

IT WILL BE INSTANCED, IN FACT HEAVILY INSTANCED. ALTHOUGH CHANGING IT TO ABOUT 10% SEEMS A CONSIDERABLE THOUGHT, AS DOES A SLOW NATURAL DECREASE - BUT THIS COULD BE ABUSED BY GOING 'AFK'
