ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Weapon/armour smith

Making a profession for this probably is useless. Adding it as a game mechanic may have some merits, but it should probably only give access to a few armors, or merely the armors you have unlocked on your account (by buying them on other chars), otherwise it removes a goldsink entirely. Don't think it's a good idea, but may have some uses if worked out well enough. --Tenshi Samshel 11:14, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Professions

If professions like armor/weaponsmith are added, they should have level requirements to create the varying levels of weapons and armor. Perhaps skill points could be used to increase profession levels (1 point for 1st level, 2 points for 2nd, etc.) thus giving us something else to spend skill points on besides skills and/or spells. Materials will have to be procured or provided and the rarity of the materials should increase with the level of the items being created. Weapons and armor could be customized with special hilts, bowstrings, etc. as well, all requiring those rare materials. This will force the player to take his/her character out to find these items. Another suggestion is to add a tab to the current rare materials merchant that would hint at locations for finding rare materials thus providing quests for the smith or whomever he/she is making the item for.
