New Page[edit]
Added to collect a list of items commonly mistaken for each other. Please assist in completing it by adding "Category:Items_with shared_icons", (within double square brackets) to the bottom of item pages which have identical icons. Gwynna Vive 20:14, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Is this meant to broadly include ALL shared icons/skins, or just emphasis "high-value" items? The former would include dozens of unique weapons along with their non-unique counterparts. --Falconeye 08:40, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- That could result in a VERY large group... I hadn't considered this. The idea that sparked my beginning the category was mainly to connect collector items with identical icons, so users would be alerted of possible scams, or nomenclature issues while trading (such as items Nicholas requests or that are part of the Dragon Festival or the like). Many items such as unique weapons will have different colored wording (white, blue, purple, gold...) that aids in differentiating, and as such, I have not seen many errors or scams because of this. I am unable to recall if there are any items with identical skins that do not share an identical icon, and the current "replication" format for unique item pages, is quite sufficient (IMHO). Items such as Ettin Humps, Skale Fins, and such however, are not so easy to remember, especially for novice or casual players, and I thought this could be a feasible approach to helping those players become aware of the various items, as opposed to putting a note on each item's page...although a note is definitely a plus for high valued items. Most weapon pages have such a note already, especially unique weapons. Perhaps all items could be placed here, or separtate them into categories of "stackable" and "non-stackable" or "trophies", "salvage items" and "weapons' or something similar? Maybe start just putting all items with identical icons, and divide the category later should that be preferrable? Gwynna Vive (talk) 09:53, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
