UPDATE[edit]

ANet has essentially added this feature to GW2. Thank you, ANet!

Multiple Dyeable Components[edit]

Allow the ability to dye more than one component of a weapon or piece of armor. For example, a sword’s blade can be dyed silver, its hilt dyed yellow and its pommel dyed brown. The dye preview window can accept up to twelve dyes. The first set of four dyes will mix together to dye the blade. The second set of four will be for the hilt, and the third set of four will be for the pommel.

Reasoning[edit]

There is a lack of unique, yet visually appealing, dye schemes in GW1. The ability to add multiple colors gives each item the potential to look very appealing in many different color combinations.

There will be a lot of variety to each armor set, making each player feel more unique. There will also be less of a need to design more armor sets. Overall, I feel that this feature will add a lot of customization to the finer details of the game and that it will go a long to please the players for the amount of effort it takes to implement.

Advantages/Disadvantages[edit]

  • Customization, variety
  • Requires more dyes
  • Hopefully, not too difficult to implement
  • Changes may not be very noticeable
  • Additional information to load (Important when entering a crowded outpost.)
