In view of multiple suggestions from myself (e.g. here) and other users (e.g. here and here), and the discussions thereon, there seems to be widespread sentiment that the "boat list" is too limited - but at the same time, significant disagreement on how to balance the burden of coding with the benefits of expanded instant travel.
As a new proposal, seeking to maximize user benefits while minimizing coding work, I suggest a pulldown button on the Map window itself - either activated by the ship button, or in a corner - that allows the user to view maps other than the current one.
Travel within the same continent would be absolutely unaffected; but travel between continents would involve only the extra load time of the alternate continent map. Once that continent map is loaded, the user could go anywhere that has been unlocked, by precisely the same mechanism as now exists for intra-continental travel.
