The idea here is to bring back an elite skill from what amounts to a Smiter's Boon nerf. There are three suggestions here; they have somewhat different effects but all focus on hindering a single enemy target's spell casting. I've outlined the intent of each suggestion just above the skill description.

  • This first suggestion is meant to act as the Assassin elite version of the Mesmer skill, Blackout, but without completely disabling the enemy caster in the case of single-target spikes (the caster can still use skills which do not target foes, and spells which target foes aren't disabled in the first place). Modifications could be made to make this spell half range.

Shroud of Silence Shroud of Silence 10 Energy2 Activation time25 Recharge time Elite Hex Spell. For 2...6...7 seconds target foe cannot cast spells which target a foe. Your spells are disabled (5 seconds).

  • This second suggestion is meant to cause punishment on all types of casters, but to allow a free spell first. This allows for easy self hex removal if the caster was wise enough to equip one and save it, so the skill isn't broken. Modifications could be made to make this spell half range or to reduce the hex duration. Care has been taken to prevent this particular version from being overpowered at low ranks in Deadly Arts.

Shroud of Silence Shroud of Silence 10 Energy1 Activation time30 Recharge time Elite Hex Spell. For 5...9...10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a spell, that foe is dazed for 0...2...3 seconds.

  • This last suggestion completely changes the skill to be an elite version of Iron Palm. The daze's unconditional but low duration is meant to line up precisely with the duration of a single Assassin skill chain, but only if the Assassin spends a large number of Attribute Points on Deadly Arts. The added cold damage was added to give it a direct impact on the foe, but was kept minimal to avoid being the primary effect of the skill. This skill would be reclassified as a lead attack to allow for some bar compression, which Assassins are typically in dire need of.

Shroud of Silence Shroud of Silence 10 Energy¾ Activation time25 Recharge time Elite Skill. Target touched foe takes 10...26...30 cold damage and is dazed for 1...4...5 seconds. Shroud of Silence counts as a lead attack.
