Update[edit]

Maybe it could be a title instead of a profession...Would be interesting(in my opinion).

[edit]

Hello.

I have been playing several games for quite a while now. And one thing that I have NOT seen yet is: A community based class.

Often, I don't feel like going out into the wild and fighting, so I end up sitting in towns...Not doing much at all. And I'm sure that at least some people would enjoy playing a game without having to fight, and rather focus on helping other players while keeping the community "healthy". At least that's something I'd like to do more often.

Possible Profession names: Guide, Assistant.

The role of this class is non-combat, focused completely on the community.

For example: Helping new players(upon request) with information, Forming parties for adventurers, Keeping people up to date with most recent events(again, upon request from the person who desires such information).

Other things for this profession could include silcence buffs(timed), I have often seen people advertise websites that offer in-game money/items in exchange for RL money, Guide/assistant could silence them, then send a report to ANet.

I know what you're thinking...Bored guides running around silencing random people for fun. To avoid that: A player could report the guide for misuse of the buff. Also, if there's more than one Guide/Assistant in town, maybe multiple guides/assistants would have to cast the buff on the same target to activate the buff.

This class could provide a great way to Help the community without people having to send countless E-mails to the game moderators.

Of course, I'm not suggesting that a level one guide/assistant would be able to silence someone. It should probably be avilable to players near max level.

How does a non-combat class level up? This might sound funny but, What if there was a "kudos" system? Once you help a player, you could ask them for thumbs up/down. Which could be in form of a command such as "/kudos (guide's name here). 1 Kudos= Exp + Tokens(used to exchange for money/items from npc's.) To avoid people from self-promoting their Guides/Assistants, there could be a limit to how many "kudos" a player can spend on one guide/assistant per hour. Perhaps 5 Kudos per day should be max for any char to spend on guides/assistants.

"Weapons" of the class should probably be things like guidebooks/Horns/Scrying glass/Canes.

Horn:Used for Server chat. With higher level the Guide/assistant could use a larger ammount of server chats per day. Used mainly for forming parties for adventurers.

Guidebooks: Provides actual information that can be used to help players without having to access wiki.

Scrying glass: Used for observing different locations in the game world, such as current events, PK, and Towns.

Cane: Used for buffing(enchantments/hexes etc) players.

This might sound bold but, what if this class could also start timed reward events for towns/outposts or even reward some players with increased exp buffs? Again, certain things should be unlocked when the Guide/Assistant reaches a higher level.

Guides/assistants could have a different design/name color to indicate that they're here to assist people. That way Players will be able to approach them without having to ask if they're actually guides.

Possible rewards for Guides/Assistants:

I suggest that each time a guide/assistant recieves Kudos, it comes as two separate rewards. One in form of exp, and the other in form of tokens used to exhange for items/money from NPC's.

I have never posted on wiki before, so I do apologize for the poor quality of this post.

Thanks for your time!
