I would like to see some more interesting weaponry at some point in guildwars 2. It has all the 'classical' weapons that fantasy games are known for, but there is so much more in the world of weapons than that. Though I think it is fairly set in stone at this point what the game will be released with, all the same, these could be used in later expansions.

Throwing Hammer Available to the Guardian and Warrior

An ancient, somewhat barbaric, yet very effective weapon. Little more than a fist-sized lead ball attached to a chain. The weapon is swung to gain momentum then hurled at an enemy, striking with bone-crushing force at a considerable range. This would specialize in ranged CC.

Spear Available to the Ranger, Necromancer, and Warrior

An obvious addition to GW2. One of the greatest melee weapons, allows one to have all the advantages of melee combat without suffering defense and possible death. The weapon of intelligent yet visceral combatants. It would specialize in close range, providing you control by preventing enemy attacks and allowing you to control your opponents positioning.

Throwing Spear Available to the Ranger

Another obvious addition the GW2's weapon compendium. How did the developers miss spears? How do they always ignore spears? A ranged weapon, able to be thrown great distances for piercing damage. A control weapon, allowing you at range to disable opponents, their weapons, and weaken their armor.

Pick Available to the Guardian and Warrior

Believe it or not, the pick has been an effective weapon in many medieval cultures. Picture a mace, a very heavy mace. Now stick a long thick sharp metal spike on that mace. You now have a pick. They were effective weapons for piercing armor, the combination of the long spike and the heavy weight making them optimal for killing blows through thick armor, the only problem was withdrawing them from the chest cavity you just sheathed them in. They would specialize in damage and armor mitigation.

Club

Don't mock the club. This weapon has been effectively splattering enemy heads for time immemorial. More modern (relatively speaking) renditions were used by many cultures all the way up until the invention of firearms. It is similar to the Hammer though, but I would still like to see it in the game, even if only a unique skin categorized under the hammer class of weaponry.

Hand Cannon Available to the Engineer

A heavy cannon held in both hands and supported by a shoulder or neck strap, fires explosive projectiles and is all around really friggin' intimidating. I would elaborate more, but in spite of being so very excited about the engineer class I still do not understand how their skills work concerning their equipped weapons.

Light Battery Available to the Engineer

This medieval weapon, is completely made up by me, and is entirely fantastical, yet awesome. The principle is similar to a traditional firearm, but as you imagine it shoots beams of light, that's right- lasers. It is based on, believe it or not, a crude laser design found in the notes of one Benjamin Franklin. It operates by gas pellets, injected into a mirror laden chamber by a loading system similar to a paintball guns CO2 canisters. This gas is engineered to burn very bright. Once the gas is injected, the trigger is pulled to cause a spark in the chamber and the gas lights. The mirrors in the chamber increase the light created by the gas and direct it towards the magnification chamber. This second chamber has an array of lenses masterfully arranged to capture all light and focus it down the barrel, through a second series of focusing lenses, and out the weapon as an intense and destructive beam of light and heat.
