Yeah, A-Net kinda dug a neat little hole for themselves there... By making the Spear an underwater weapon, they have made it structuraly unsound to implement spears later in the game for land-based fighting. They either make spears work in and out of water (extremely OP compared to both other land weapons AND underwater weapons), or make different classes of spears, which could potentially confuse players to no end. The only way to fix that, which I can see, is to make underwater weapons have like (UW) next to the name to denote it as 'UnderWater'. But even then, it could still get confusing. Some of the ideas in this suggestion are already in the game, usually in the form of a skill for certain weapons that does what the suggester said. For that matter, ANet doesn't even need to make new weapons with new skills; they can just make skins and assign them to particular type of weapon already in the game, like how picks (Colossal Pick) in GW1 was a piercing damage hammer. And we can all be sure clubs will indeed appear in GW2 as a hammer (or mace). --124.106.237.194 18:17, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
I am disappointed about spears, they are forgotten in just about everything short of kung-fu games. And I mentioned clubs could easily fall under hammers, picks on the other hand I didn't know about, and I hope they are included as in the original guild wars. But I really don'e see how that is possible with the new item bar system, it seems as if all weapons will have to fulfill a similar roll, I don't see how they could make a ton of hammers and then suddenly add in a pick-like hammer that fulfills a different roll with the same abilities. --69.238.89.68 00:39, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
I can see Anet adding new weapons/skills (and profs) with future expansions. How about a lance for dry land then? Not as heavy as a staff and capable of being thrown or used in a trap. How about Crossbows? I'm really surprised these didn't make the game, engineers came up with pistols/rifles before the crossbow? My favorite would be a Halberd, slashing damage instead of blunt, more range than a hammer and opportunity of a sweep or defense skill. While I'm at it the double handed Axe? These are some of the weapons I'd like to use in the GW2. Helyanwe 02:21, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
