Lately, in an attempt to clean stuff out of my inventory, I notice that I and many others have been spending a great deal of time trying to buy/sell items, and only serve to increase the lag in Kamadan.
So I thought up a solution to decrease the lag, make it available to everyone and have a new place to hang out. I understand this would take a great deal of time, and might not be possible given the upcoming GW2 and limited amount of developer resources GW currently has. However, I would like to point out that this would improve the guild wars economy, and give players back time to actually play.
The Solution[edit]
Zaishen Auction House (Within the Battle Isles) along with auction posters in Kamadan, Lion's Arch, Ascalon, and other major ports of interest. This auction house would allow individuals to anonymously post items they wish to buy/sell/trade and not have to stand there for many hours trying to get it. In exchange the Zaishen would charge an auction fee for posting the item, and possibly a percentage when the auction ends.
There is no way of knowing who is selling the item, so it is impossible for the person to list the item, yank it off and sell it without the auction fee.
Common Auction House options as a possibility
- View previous selling amounts (check the previous sold amounts of the same type)
- Guild Auction House (A guild can put together a huge lot sale from several members)
- Sort by Attribute
- Sort by Item Type
- Sort by Price
- List auctions from three hours to seven days.
Each Item would be classified by the type (an example is below);
- ~Swords [-]
- [+][White Swords]
- [+][Blue Swords]
- [+][Purple Swords]
- [-][Gold Swords]
- [-][Low Req (1 to 8)]
- [Requirement 1]
- [Requirement 2]
- [Requirement 3]
- [Requirement 4]
- [Requirement 5]
- [Requirement 6]
- [Requirement 7]
- [Requirement 8]}
- [Requirement 9]
- [+][Requirement 10 to 11]
- [+][High Requirement 12 to 13]
- [-][Low Req (1 to 8)]
- [+][Green Swords]
For each item, rune, collectible, and even mini pets. Each object listed would then have the following notes;
~For Buyers/Sellers~
- Full Name:
- Picture (With stats of item):
- Minimum Price:
- Current Bid Price:
- Buyout Price:
~For Traders~
- Full Name:
- Picture (With stats of item):
- Amount:
- Picture (of what the trader would accept as a fair trade)
- Picture 2 (of what the trader would accept as a fair trade)
- Picture 3 (of what the trader would accept as a fair trade)
In addition to just having another NPC [Zaishen Auctioner] standing around somewhere. It could be a new development for the battle islands. A place that has random festival mini games from throughout the year such as; Dragon Arena, Rollerbettle Racing, Snowball Fights, and more at random times. It could also have Npcs to sell a wide variety of types of Festival Alcohol/Party Items/and Sweets. With perhaps even an event hall that allows individuals to customize/host party events for in game money.
The reason I believe we need something like this? Prices change too dramatically over a very short window because individuals don't know what things are being sold for. It also means that players such as myself must spend five, six, nine hours trying to buy or sell in game items with little to no luck. There is already far too much time wasted on gathering titles, we don't need to waste players time by trying to buy/sell things.
Most other MMOs that want to improve the economy rely on an auction house type system to save people time and effort. Dungeons and Dragons Online, World of Warcraft, Everquest, and other games use these to help players find what they need, when they need it.
This idea does not have to be the end of things however. Many other options are available to add onto this idea such as; Guild Stores, Player Stores, Mail System, Guild Storage/Treasury, Guild Mail System, In Guild Contests, Auctions, as well Guild Recruitment Posting Halls.
As I said earlier, I know that this might seem like a fantasy. However, I urge the developers to consider something. Players are currently playing Guild Wars, not Guild Wars two. The money, time, and effort they have spent on this game is being ignored. I ask the developers to not keep putting the burden on players. I ask that the developers add more elements to the game to make player's lives a little bit easier.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
