First of all, i did look for similar topics before posting, but am new to this so apologies if this is a redundant thread.

Often when i see a gameplay video about dynamic events a developer will say something along the lines of “and you can choose to help put out the fires or just walk on by” every time i hear this i can’t help but think “what if i want to burn down the farm?”. This brings me to the point of this thread: wouldn’t it be great if you could choose to be a bad-guy, an outlaw. (or perhaps somewhere in-between good and evil)

Before you read any further, let me say this: firstly this game as it is looks to rank among the best games i’ve ever played (i’ve played a lot of games). Secondly i realise it’s a totally different ball game with standard RPGs (as opposed to MMOs) such Oblivion, mass effect or Fallout 3/NV which do allow you to be good or evil, due to the obvious complications caused by allowing more than one player to influence the world.

So what are the obstacles? Firstly to do it right (without seeming silly) where you have “good” and “evil” players they must be allowed to fight each other when each trying to influence a dynamic event (e.g. one trying to burn the farm the other trying to save it to stick with the example). Which means constant pvp (which is almost never fun). Solution? My thought is that this would occur in special areas of the map only on the fringes of good (the 5 races) and evil territory (centaurs, krait, skritt[evil?] And the evil factions within races e.g. nightmare court for sylvari). Also if you were evil enough (and/or well known enough for your crimes) you should logically be barred access from the “good” cities, meaning you would lose access to npc services and your personal instance etc which clearly wouldn’t work.

Therefore my suggestion is that there be 3 additional playable races (centaurs, krait and skritt) as well as the option to side with the evil factions within each race at character creation. Obviously this would be almost as much work as the entire game, and like many people i can barely wait ‘til 2012 never mind 2017 for this game. So my suggestion is that this feature be released gradually as expansion packs over years, the easiest to implement will of course be the evil factions of the existing races as you would only (lol) need create new starting areas not new characters, classes, skills etc etc. Then gradually add an extra playable race with new expansions (how awesome would it be to play a krait).
