Feedback:User/Erasculio/New trade system

One of the few often requested features Arena Net has not implemented in the game is an improved trading system. We have already been told how the ideal format (a trade house in which players would be able to leave items to be sold at fixed prices even when they are logged off) is not viable, so we have been left with the current system, which is rather bad.

However, even if the ideal system is not possible, I believe we could have something a bit better than what exists today. The current trade system requires a player to spam WTS or WTB in one among multiple outposts, hoping that by chance he will find someone willing to buy/sell whatever it is he has/wants. The main cities are so filled with trade chatter that it's impossible to actually talk there, which is a problem mostly on Kamadan, as it's the first outpost new Nightfall players find themselves in.

I propose, then, a system to force a centralization of all trading in a single place (with a few exceptions), in order to definitely remove the trade spamming from the main outposts and to make it more likely for buyers and sellers to find each other. This system is not the ideal, given how the ideal isn't possible currently, but it's an improvement.

Basic rules[edit]

  • The creation of the Zaishen Trade Center on the Battle Isles, available to all players. This outpost would have all NPC traders (Rune Trader, Dye Trader, Materials Trader, etc) in order to work better as the trade hub.
  • The removal of the Trade function everywhere but in the Trade Center and in Pre-Searing Ascalon. Players would simply not have the option of trading in Lion's Arch, Kamadan, in instances or anywhere else but in the places where they are meant to trade. This would turn spamming in outposts far less desirable, as players would not be able to trade in those outposts or in the instances near those outposts or even in their own Guild Hall.
  • Player would lose the ability of dropping items in instances, which could be abused to make trades in those areas.

Zaishen Trade Center[edit]

  • Instead of having an American district, an Asian district, European districts and etc, the districts of the Trade Center would be based on the kind of items traded on each district. Only those items would be tradeable in their own district, and those items would only be tradeable there, and nowhere else. This would lead everyone looking to trade a specific kind of item to a single place, making it far easier for buyers to find sellers.
  • Gold, of course, would be tradeable in all districts. The item specific districts would be:
  • Weapons, mods and runes: in this district, only gold, weapons, weapon mods and runes can be traded. This district is the only place in the game outside Pre Searing Ascalon in which weapons, weapon mods and runes can be traded among players.
  • Rare materials and common materials: a district in which gold and materials may be traded, and also the only place in which those items may be traded between players.
  • Dyes and monster drops: items big traded often enough to not be in a miscelaneous category, but not often enough to have districts of their own.
  • Consumables: for all kinds of consumables, from candy canes to drinks to snowman summoners.
  • Other items: quest items, Armbraces, Nicholas' gifts.

Incidentally, this change would cause a healthy upheaval in Guild Wars' economy system, fixing some old problems seen in the game.
