I like it[edit]

But why remove trading in instances and Guild Halls? Sometimes I might need to pass off a weapon (or really anything) to a guild member or a team member (think DP removal items in an elite mission). I think those should stay available. Perhaps limit instance trading to >5 minutes in, or something to discourage stepping into the Plains from Kamadan. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 16:33, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Originally I was going to allow people to trade in Guild Halls (only between guild members, not between guests) and to allow players to drop items in instances (so people who want to share DP removal items could just drop it for the others, as I have already seen being done once in a while). I have two concerns about this, though:
  • If it were too easy to trade in Guild Halls and in instances, people could continue to advertise in, say, Lion's Arch, and just go outside to trade. Some limits (like the ones I mentioned above, or your example) maybe would be able to prevent this, if it weren't for...
  • The item limit system. There's a little something hidden in this suggestion: rare materials would be tradeable in the Materials District, and only for gold or rare materials or common materials. Which means, all those players who like to use ectos when trading very expensive weapons...Would find themselves unable to do so. No one would be allowed to use ectos or black dyes or armbraces when trading weapons, which would effectively cause the economic upheaval I mentioned. Some players would do anything to prevent this, even leaving their own guilds temporarilly to join other people's guild in order to trade freely.
Of course, if Arena Net would not like to cause such a big upheaval, and keep a less restricted system, I think trading in Guild Halls and item dropping in instances should be kept. Erasculio 16:41, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I think your upheaval would be gotten around by simply trading the mats in one area, then going to the weapons area (or whatever) and trading that item, or we'd see some sort of go-between service. I'm thinking those massive trades are amongst a select group of people (leading to trust or a quick blacklist), that assumption may be wrong. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 16:47, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I think NPCs should buy our stuffs for real price. For example, they sell Lockpicks for 1250g, and buy them 1000g. You buy ectos for 8800g, trader will pay 8000g.

This way you can fast-sell your stuff without losing much, like when NPC offers 170g for an ecto. RoyalPredator (RP) 11:42, 19 January 2012 (GMT+1)

I like some of these suggestions. Can't they just have universal wall where ALL trades go, regardless of where you are? Then you can advertise anywhere with the same effect but it can still have categories like you wanted for districts to sort through them. What's really missing are search and filter options too.
