I understand the reasoning behind freeing up names and database space for the names that aren’t being used. However, there are many people (such as myself) who have played GW1 since its release and have since purchased many extra character slots. GW2 only has 5 character slots, so most of my names I can’t reserve right away without buying more slots in GW2. Most people I know that also play are in the same boat. I won’t want to use all of my character names, but many I will (and yes, that is more than 5).
What I am suggesting is this: let players have the option somewhere of reserving the names we want to use in the future in GW2 without having to buy x amount of extra character slots on the first day of release. This will allow people who currently play GW and are playing (and pre-purchased) GW2 to not feel like we were let down on this name reservation issue. It will also free up the space on names for people who no longer play GW and have no plans on playing GW2.
