This is a suggestion to add a brawling arena to GW2. Obviously, this fits best with the Norn; however, I don't see any reason why there couldn't be one in every major city.

  • Brawls are 1v1 matches only.

  • Entering the ring replaces your skills with unarmed combat skills; punches, jabs, kicks, grapples, throws, etc.

  • Would kind of be a merger of the Bison Cup Brawl and Kilroy Stonekin mission from GW1. It remains confined to the brawling ring/arena, though, so it won't interfere with other players who don't wish to observe or participate. It could even be held inside a building to futher insulate it from those who might otherwise find it immersion breaking.

  • A match lasts three rounds; 2 minutes apiece, maybe, with a 10 second cooldown between rounds.

  • The match lasts until one player has knocked out the other or participants have played all three rounds of the match.

  • If a player exits the ring before a knockout, they forfeit the match.

  • Players score points for hits, combos, knockdowns which do not result in a knockout, and possibly blocks/defenses.

  • If at the end of round three neither player has been knocked out, the winner is declared based on the points scored.

  • If there are other players queued to play a match, the previous combatants are removed from the ring so the next two brawlers can fight their match. If there are no other players waiting in the que, then the previous fighters can play another match if they wish.

  • There is no gold, karma, experience, influence, or other game resource awarded for participating in the match. There may be a meter to track wins/losses/knockouts, but that's all. It's purely for fun and bragging rights.

  • There will be no in-game betting system. This prevents abuse of this mini-game as a way to get rich by "rigging" the fights and using shills. If players make a bet between themselves on the outcome of the fight and use in-game mail to transfer gold back and forth based on who wins and who loses, that's entirely up to them. But there will be no formal in-game betting system.

Thank you for reading.
