Feedback:User/Guild Wars 3 perhaps/Please Keep Water Droplet Effect

In watching a recent August 2nd GW2 stress test video, a comment was made that the droplet effect on exiting a body of water has been removed from the game. The comment was made off-hand and not in context; the player wasn't actually in a body of water during the video, so I have no confirmation one way or the other if this is true.

However, if indeed the water droplet effect has been removed, I'm begging that it be added back in. It's such a cool effect in and of itself; the artists got it perfect. More importantly than the realism of the effect is the impact it has in adding one more touch that more fully connects and immerses the player with the game environment. Rather than viewing the game as if I'm a disinterested third party watching a movie of my character, the water droplets are yet another effect which tie me closer to the game and the actions of my character; making me feel like I'm right there.

I can understand a potential criticism which may have led to it being removed; that it was blocking players' view of enemies as they exited the water. However, please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater by fully eliminating the effect. To address this concern, perhaps tone it down or make fewer (or no) water droplets appear near the center of the screen. Besides, I don't put much stock in this potential complaint anyway. Since the effect is so fleeting and players aren't targeting an enemy or using skills during that brief sub-one-second transition from water to land, then I fail to see how it can have a negative impact on these actions.

If you feel strongly on this issue (pro OR con), then please comment on the discussion tab. Let ArenaNet know how you feel about this effect. Perhaps if there's enough support for it, it can be spared from the chopping block. Conversely, if a greater majority truly feel it is such a detraction from the game that they'd prefer it be removed, then I will defer to the consensus opinion in the interest of what's best for the larger GW2 community.

Lastly, maybe we can strike a compromise. Add a toggle in the Options panel to turn environmental effects (water droplets, snow flakes, etc. on the screen) on or off. Those who feel it is too distracting can turn it off. Those who prefer it for the greater immersion it grants them can turn it on.

Thank you for reading.
