Based on a forum post at Guild Wars 2 Guru, it appears Taste of Death is not healing for the expected amount of 6,520 points. The OP of that forum post is claiming the healing is ~4,400. I wrote a response in that post based on a theory I had thay may account for why this is happening:
- "When the Blood Fiend was first conceived, it was my understanding that it would heal the Necromancer based on the amount of cumulative damage it had inflicted on foes. For example, if your Blood Fiend did 400 points of damage to an enemy and then you cast ToD, you would be healed for 400.
- Obviously, that mechanic has been dispensed with and ToD is now supposed to heal for a fixed base amount of 6,520. I'm just wondering if there's some internal conflict going on between some overlooked lines of coding from the old mechanic and the more recent changes that are causing a subtle error in how the healing from ToD is calculated.
- For example, maybe there was an iteration that we were never privy to in which the ToD was given a base amount of healing; let's call it 4,000. Then, the cumulative damage the Blood Fiend had wracked up during its existence was then added to this base healing. Then they scrapped that idea in favor of making ToD a straight 6,520 points of healing but they forgot to make the change to the intermediate iteration, resulting in ToD healing for significantly less than expected. We're getting the base healing of the intermediate ToD (4,000 or whatever it is) without the cumulative damage from the Blood Fiend added to this base amount."
Thank you for reading.
