Hello fellow GW2 fans! Let me start off by saying that I am very excited about Guild Wars 2 and I am looking forward to the much anticipated release date. Before then, I would like to contribute to the success of our game by taking some time to write down a burning suggestion that won't find rest in my mind.
I spent some time in the forums and I remember a developer or a representative of the Mesmer profession mention that no mechanics concerning Mesmer would be drastically changed... so with that in mind, I am just humbly asking for you to test the concept for yourselves. I would be greatly appreciative and would have an awesome time with any discussions that may arise from this suggestion.
This suggestion is in regard to Phantasm and Clone generation and the interactions between the two.
I'm going to keep it simple so here goes... A magicians illusion is something that will shine as the star of the show and will eventally fade over time in it's ability to mesmerize an audience and in this case concerning GW2, to provide a disorienting effect to a Mesmers foe.
The Star State What the Mesmer profession Phantasm in particular needs is a mechanic that grants it Immunity "Star State" to being overwritten by clones for a set period of time. After that set time has been reached the Illusion enters a "Fading State".
Let's take Illusionary Duelist as an example: If I spawned the Duelist at the start of battle, I dodge roll avoiding a powerful enemy opener, there is a passive trait in Dueling that allows clones to be spawned upon dodging if I dodge again or use any clone generating slot skills I lose a good portion of my damage output when they overwrite my Phantasm. If I had this immunity in place I could delay that to allow for better fight with the enemy. As the fight progress and that immunity is gone if my clones overwrite that phantasm I can use them for shattering.
The Fading State
The fading state should allow clones to be generated in the slot of the fading phantasm if any other phantasms are in their immunity period they would not be overwritten.
Phantasms with immunity should represented as a purple star inside the light fuscia orbs that represent the amount of clones you have out.
Wish List:
(PvE) If a Phantasm is in the immunity period upon elimination of a target it should persist if you are still in combat with another target until the end if the immunity period then it can be overwritten.
