As we all known in Gw2 the different races will have acces to a series of racial powers in PvE, Asuras will have golems, Norns will have shapeshifting abilities etc.
Humans in Gw are defined by the following main characteristics:
- Sly
- Organized
- Religious
- Collaborative
- Authority Driven
Humans have been Empire-builders for at least the last 1700 years. They are the most organized and united of all races and unlike the other species, the humans have a strong and united central government. My proposal is to make humanity special powers based in that characteristic. So my proposal is to use these characteristic as the base for the Human racial skills.
The Powers[edit]
I divided the powers into Reinforcements, Trickery and Nationalism.
Reinforcements[edit]
Reinforcements would be the equivalent ability to the Asure Golems. The humans could have the ability to recruit (maybe with a series of recruitment quest) and call for reinforcements in a similar way to some of the Eye of The North Vanguard skills. Humans could call:
- Krytan Soldiers: A squad of proffesional with swords, armors and guns.
- Destiny Militia: A squad of militia with rifles and pitchforks.
- Holy Knights: Heavy Cavalry with swords and rifles.
Trickery[edit]
The human trickery would be a group of abilities more indirect based on trickery and dirty tactics some will say even unhonorable. These abilities would be based on the human ability to adapt to the battlefield and use support abilities in form of ambushed and traps while others are more based on technological like field artillery support. Some examples:
- Sniper Ambush: You set an archer ambush that will be triggered when an enemy pass.
- Smoke Screen: Launch a series of smoke-bombs that harm the accuracy of enemy ranged weapons.
- Counterintelligence: Allow you to discover all traps and illusions in a short range for a short time.
- Artillery Support: Ask for an area attack from a artillery squad (outside the map).
Nationalism[edit]
Nationalism is based on the collaborative and Authority driven natures of the humans. It will work in form of chants, and battlecries, and warflags. It improve human ability to fight in groups:
- Warflag: All allies under the flag will have bonus in defense and attack.
- For the Queen!: Battle Cry.
- For the Empire! (Canthan): Battle Cry.
Final thoughts[edit]
So this is it. I guess I could add some religious/human spirit-based power although I’m against Gods Avatars since it goes against the “Gods Absence” theme. I guess it would work on Faith an not in divine intervention. Probably it would make would make the humans for example zealous warriors capable of ignoring pain and fear etc.
