I was hoping for the ability to have romantic interests (and maybe even marriages) in the Guild Wars 2 personal storyline. ANet seems to be very keen towards making sure that GW2 is all about the personal story, and I think that romantic interests would be a fantastic way to expand on that and deepen the personal connection with the characters that we have created. I'm sure the design team has already thought about all of these things, but I just wanted to say that I think it would be a brilliant idea which has been implemented well in other phenomenal games like Dragon Age, the Fable series (particularly the last two installments), and Mass Effect. I also believe that GW2 would be one of the first MMO's to have romantic relationships as an added option which would be groundbreaking for the genre. These romantic interests could possibly be sought out through personal sidequests and interaction with certain NPCs, most of which I'm assuming would have to happen in instanced areas.
This brings up my second point, which is that if this were done it would be fantastic if the romantic options included not only heterosexual relationships, but also gay and lesbian romantic options. I myself am a gay gamer (and many of my friends looking forward to GW2 are as well) and I would be thrilled with options like that which help cater to all of your fanbase. It would send a message that ArenaNet cares more deeply for the people that play its games by giving more depth and personalization (which lets face it, is a huge reason to play an MMORPG). Also, it would give extra press for the game and potentially draw in more people as games that include same-sex relationships are few and far between (It was the sole reason I tried playing Fable III). I know that it would make me and the other gay gamers across the U.S. and the world very happy if this were to happen.
Thank you for listening! :D
