Import the spirit of the PvP equipment panel from GW1 to GW2. More importantly, don't limit its use to PvP-only characters (assuming they exist in GW2, anyway).

In short, a character should be able to change, delete, modify, upgrade, downgrade, redye, or otherwise modify their armor, equipment, rune/insignia configuration (or equivalent), and any other mechanical/purchased aesthetic changes:

  • At will,
  • without cost, and
  • without needing to speak with NPCs.

The title is a reference to the Rubik's Cube puzzle (and its 43 quintillion-odd configurations) and D&D's goofy classic, the Bag of Holding.

If a system wherein players must purchase elite armor art (such as Obsidian armor) exists, then armor should not be directed to a player's inventory, but instead "unlocked" in the equipment panel. From there, it can be created and recreated with any unlocked runes/insignia/whatever as easily as the current PvP panel allows now. Additionally, it removes the need for a number of NPCs that require long treks across familiar, boring territory to speak to, just to get runes and other junk. These NPCs can still exist, of course — you have to buy the rune the first time — but after that, you shouldn't have to jog around town in circles keeping your party waiting because you can't find where you put your golden fleece of superior vigor.

Similarly, once a character customizes a weapon or other item, it is unlocked in the panel for free use.

Obviously, this will require some fleetness of foot on the part of your item database people (not really, this is first-year month computer science shit), but the benefits will be fantastic. The idea of needing "mules" to lug items around for other characters with no inventory space will be a thing of the past.

Just to clarify: there should be no cost or deletion anxiety associated with killing an item to make another with this panel. That includes dye jobs, weapon mods, and anything else that can't immediately be replaced. If there is, it ruins the entire purpose of the system.

Thank you for your time, and — as always — have a pleasant flight.
