Everlasting Identification / Salvage Kit[edit]

Hypothetical Problem Scenario[edit]

A player is in an outpost, unloading loot and gearing up. He has a Superior Identification Kit in his inventory with 22 uses remaining. He doesn't feel like that's quite enough for the adventure he's about to embark on, so he now faces the tough decision of either picking up another kit, potentially wasting an inventory slot, or running out prematurely while out and about.

Everlasting Identification Kit
Double-click to identify another item in your inventory. You lose 5 gold for each item identified this way.
Everlasting Salvage Kit
Double-click to salvage upgrade components and crafting materials (rare or common) from an item. You lose 20 gold for each salvage performed this way.

Explanation[edit]

These kits do not have charges at all, but rather are "fueled" by the player's gold supply, consuming a fixed amount of gold on every use. Assuming the player's wallet is filled to the brim, he can get just under 5000 uses (with the numbers supplied above) of the more expensive salvage kit. These would also be constantly refueled as players accumulate gold while playing. The combined effect is a virtually limitless kit.

Making the cost per use higher than the existing superior kits would make these much less lucrative, so the current top-end usage prices are retained. To help balance them out, the kits should have a front-loaded acquisition cost which sets the effective cost per user higher than the current maximum, but will gradually diminish and approach that maximum with each successive use. A convenient and appropriate way to do this would be to introduce these as Zaishen Coin rewards, or potential loot from the Zaishen Chest.

Naming[edit]

The concept's name borrows from the already existing Everlasting Tonics, but there is a good chance that players could be confused by the discrepancy between its name and behavior. With that in mind, something less evocative of "infinite" (e.g. Zaishen Identification Kit) might be a better choice.

Conclusion[edit]

While the recent addition of the Mercantile Summoning Stone makes this less useful, players participating in long or successive vanquishes and elite missions would certainly appreciate the added convenience.
