Note: This part of my overarching revamp suggestion. This page will be suggesting the re-opening and new design of the old Prophecies arenas that were closed when Factions was released, in accordance to my suggestion on Challenge Missions. |
Note: This suggestion will be going under renovations sometime. |
Due to Factions, the Tyria Arenas were removed, and Factions got the new “Challenge Missions.” Ever since the arena closing in Tyria, the arenas have been wanted to be re-opened. The idea to turn them into Challenge Missions has been tossed around constantly. Droknar’s Arena was changed into an explorable, thus brought back for exploring. Eye of the North introduced mini games, so I figured, if not Challenge Missions, why not a mini game? I looked through the arena maps, and have designed Challenge Missions and/or Mini Games for these maps. The below are my own opinion for what could be done for these areas.
NOTE: I will not be giving specific names or builds to NPCs, I think it best to leave the names and builds to others (because I will no doubt make names in reference to players and builds people find unusual or "bad for the AI").
D’Alessio Arena[edit]
File:User Konig Des Todes Suggestion Map 1.jpg
- Map key
- Green=Skale Spawn Points
- Red=Undead Spawn Points
- Brown=Plant Spawn Points
Starting spot is marked on map by player marker.
- Style
“Assault the Player” – spawns head to the player.
Enemies:[edit]
- Wave 1
Bog Skales from swamp area to the right.
Part 1:
- 10 Bog Skale Broodlings
Part 2:
- 4 Bog Skale Broodlings
- 2 Bog Skales
- 1 Bog Skale Icetooth
Part 3:
- 3 Bog Skales
- 4 Bog Skale Icetooths
- 2 Bog Skale Elders
Part 4:
- 5 Bog Skales
- 1 Bog Skale Elder (Boss)
- 1 Bog Skale Queen (Boss)
- Enemies
- Bog Skale Broodling - Necromancer - Level 7
- Bog Skale – Necromancer – Level 11
- Bog Skale Icetooth – Necromancer/Elementalist – Level 17
- Bog Skale Elder – Elementalist/Monk – Level 21 (Model: Ridgeback Skale)
- Bog Skale Elder – Elementalist/Monk – Boss - Level 21 (Model: Ridgeback Skale)
- Bog Skale Queen – Necromancer/Elementalist - Boss - Level 27 (Model: Frigid Skale)
- Notes on Enemies
The idea I had for the Skale would be basically “routing out the Skale source” – so these would be the strongest of the Krytan Skales (not so much the Broodling, of course).
- Wave 2
Undead from Northwester and Southwestern shore
Part 1:
- 6 Restless Orrians (3 north, 3 south)
- 6 Grasping Ghouls (3 north, 3 south)
Part 2:
- 4 Grasping Ghouls (2 north, 2 south)
- 4 Skeletal Monks (2 north, 2 south)
Part 3:
- 4 Skeletal Bowmasters (2 north, 2 south)
- 2 Skeletal Sorcerers (north)
- 2 Skeletal Monks (1 north, 1 south)
- 1 Rotting Dragon (south)
Part 4:
- 2 Rotting Dragon (south)
- 1 Orrian General (south)
- Enemies
- Restless Orrian – Warrior – Level 7 (Model: Restless Undead)
- Grasping Ghoul – Warrior – Level 11
- Skeleton Bowmaster – Ranger – Level 17
- Skeleton Monk – Monk – Level 12
- Skeletal Sorcerer – Elementalist – Level 15
- Rotting Dragon – Ranger – Level 20
- Orrian General – Ranger/Warrior – Boss – Level 25 (Model: Skeleton Ranger)
- Notes on Enemies
The idea I had for the undead was that, after the skale threat, they come in attacking the players, pinning them onto this area (pincer attack and cornering, hence the two spawn spots).
- Wave 3
Plants from Swamp
Part 1:
- 6 Spined Aloes (3 north, 3 south)
- 4 Nettle Spores (2 north, 2 south)
Part 2:
- 6 Reed Stalkers (north)
- 6 Murmuring Thornbrush (south)
Part 3:
- 14 Fanged Ayahuasca (7 north, 7 south)
Part 4:
- 1 Stalker of Corruption (boss)
- 1 Ayahuasca of Corruption (boss)
- 1 Tree of Corruption (boss)
- Enemies
- Spined Aloe – Monk - Level 11
- Nettle Spores - None - Level 15 (still creates Nettle Seedling)
- Reed Stalkers - Mesmer - Level 17
- Murmuring Thornbrush – Paragon – Level 20
- Fanged Ayahuasca - Mesmer - Level 20
- ____________ - Boss - Necromancer - Level 28 (Model: Stalker)
- ____________ – Boss - Mesmer – Level 28 (Model Fanged Ayahuasca)
- ____________ – Boss – Ranger/Monk – Level 30 (Model: Ancient Oakheart)
- Notes on Enemies
The idea I had of the three bosses was to have them as a condition trio (Epidemic, Incendiary Arrows, Apply Poison, Rotting Flesh, Virulence, etc.).
NPCs[edit]
- Lion's Gate
- Name: Lionguard ______
- Model: Lionguard female
- Dialogue: It has been years since the D’Alessio Arena has been used. It was decided to be re-opened for Lionguard training, but a threat has been discovered. It needs to be eliminated, you will be briefed at the former arena.
- Purpose: Access to the outpost
- Outpost
Traders/Storage:
- Xunlai Agent
- Xunlai Chest
- Merchant
- Name: __________ [Records]
- Model: Lionguard Male
- Dialogue: Hello there, Lionguard _____ will explain to you what to do once on the other island. I am here to record the ability of those who enter. Since we cannot have training for now, I am recording for possible recruits while the annoyance is cleared. Those who do exceptionally well I mark down. Hopefully, I can judge how the Lionguard improves instead of just seeking recruits out of people who aid us like you.
- Name: __________ [Challenge Starter]
- Model: Lionguard Male
- Dialogue: Greetings adventurer. As you’ve no doubt heard from Lionguard ______, it has been decided to make this location a training ground for the Lionguard, however, it appears that the Skale have made this a breeding spot. We need adventurers such as yourself to help in eliminating the Skale from this area, kill the Skale Queen, and secure this from any other threats.
- ⇒ That sounds easy. Anything else?
- I wish there weren’t. It is believed that some of the few remaining Undead are returning to Orr, as some have been seen returning to the sea, but they may appear here instead. If they do appear here, it is possible that the plants may react to their presence much like they have on the mainland. So be on guard and clean this place out.
- ⇒ How do I gain points?
- For every wave you defeat, you will earn points. The more waves you defeat, the more points per wave. And the amount of points you gain is based on your speed as you defeat each wave.
- ⇒ Do you have any advice?
- Once you land on the island, the skale and other creatures will sense your presence and seek to destroy the threat to them. Find an easily defendable spot quickly. Each of your foes are different from the others, if you want to survive, you’ll need to prepare well.
Fort Koga[edit]
File:User Konig Des Todes Suggestion Map 2.jpg
- Map key
Yellow=spawn spot of Ravagers
Starting spot is marked on map by player marker.
- Style
“Regain the Base” – Similar to Aurios Mines
- Enemies
- Thorn Stalkers – Elementalist – Level 17
- Jungle Guardians – Ranger – Level 19
- Life Pod - Monk – Level 15
- Fanged Ayahuasca - Mesmer – Level 17
- Undergrowth - Warrior – Level 16
- Enchanted Thornbrush - Dervish – Level 16 (Model: Enchanted Brambles)
- Ravagers – Necromancer – Level 20
- Elder Ravagers - Ritualist/Necromancer – Boss – Level 24-30 (at Yellow spawn spots) (Model: Ravager)
- Notes on Enemies
The idea I had was to have Life Pods, Thorn Stalkers, Enchanted Thornbrushes, and Fanged Ayahuasca would pop up randomly as time goes on (similar to Explosive Growths in Urgoz’s Warren – pop up speed slowly increases as Elder Ravagers are killed). The goal would be to kill the Elder Ravagers. They spawn every 5 minutes. Jungle Guardians and Undergrowths patrol the area (and spawn with the Elder Ravagers). Whenever Jungle Guardians die, groups of Ravagers spawn (such as in Bloodstone Fen). The waves will be endless, as will the Elder Ravagers.
- Note on Challenge Mission
It is possible to return the map to the beta version where it was both inside and outside the fort itself in order to make the map bigger. Doing this would give more areas for the spawning locations of the Elder Ravagers, thus allowing the challenge to be bigger and more challenging.
NPCs[edit]
- Henge of Denravi
- Name: ____________
- Model: Druid
- Dialogue: So you wish to enter the area known as Fort Koga? That can easily be arrange, impatient one.
- Location: Exit to outpost

(Alternative: remove the barrier and allow walking access to the outpost)
- Outpost
Traders/Storage:
- Xunlai Agent

- Merchant
- Name ____________ [Records]
- Model: Shining Blade Caster
- Dialogue: Ever since the Druids appeared, plants have been attacking us from within and around the fort. I was sent to watch the fights so that I may later improve the Shining Blade training. I’ll be making special mentions of the exceptionally well fighters, maybe I’ll end up mentioning you if you try hard enough.
- Name: ____________
- Model: {{:File:Druid.jpg|Druid]]
- Dialogue: It has been many years since we Druids have entered the location you call ‘Fort Koga.’ We have thought that ever since we became what you see us now that you have taken residence there, since it was a prime route of trade for the Henge. We’ve recently learned that you too have abandoned the area, and decided to govern the area as well.
- ⇒ I heard that there is a problem, what is it?
- Unfortunately, the Ravagers have taken residence here in the time it has been abandoned and have been awakening the plants to be hostile even to us Druids. Though it pains us to ask this, we need someone quell down the forest and the Ravagers.
- ⇒ So what is it that I have to do?
- I shall accompany you into the area and bring out the Elder Ravagers, when they show, you must destroy them. No need to worry about my safety, although we cannot control the plants, they cannot harm us.
- ⇒ How do I gain points?
- For every plant that you destroy, you will gain 1 point. For every Ravager you kill, you shall gain 2 points. Elder Ravagers are worth 5 points.
- ⇒ Ok, do you have any advice?
- Be weary of the Jungle Guardians, though they must be destroyed, when you do, Ravagers will appear. But if you do not, the number of hostile plants in the area will be too great. Finally, as Elder Ravagers are defeated, the other Ravagers will get more and more desperate, bringing more enemies to defeat you.
- Challenge Mission
- Name: _____________
- Model: Druid
- Dialogue: Do no bother me now, I am bringing out the Elder Ravagers, you must defeat them when they appear.
Note: Has Invincibility.

NPCs[edit]
- Amnoon Oasis
- Name: __________
- Model: Ascalonian Male Ghost
- Dialogue: Greetings explorer! Are you interested in entering or watching the Crystal Spectral Tournament? If so, I can let you in to view, but if you want to enter, you’ll need to talk with ________. Well, come on! I don’t got all my life to talk with you, figuratively speaking.
- Location: At the gate to arena outpost
- Purpose: Allow access into the Challenge Mission Outpost
(Alternative: remove the barrier and allow walking access to the outpost)
- Outpost
Traders/Storage:
- Xunlai Agent
- Xunlai Chest
- Merchant
- Name: __________ [Records]
- Model: Flaming Scepter Ghost
- Dialogue: Welcome to the Amnoon Arena! I’m here to record all the best fighters and have their names go down in history. If you do well enough, maybe you’ll get some respect from us all.
- Name: ___________ [Challenge Starter]
- Model: Ascalonian Guard Ghost
- Dialogue: Life as a ghost in this place gets boring fast. Because we really wanted some entertainment, we’ve set up a little challenge for passer-bys to fight. For us, it is entertainment, for them, it is training. It’s a win-win. We even reward the competitors based on how well they’ve done. Are you interested?
- ⇒ Maybe, what will I be facing?
- Well, at first, the idea going on was to have ourselves as fighters, but since we’ve started this, adventurers like Aurek have captured creatures and now we have various desert creatures fighting as well. Of course, this will be in small teams, not one on one.
- ⇒ What kind of creatures are we talking about?
- Anything you’d run into out in the desert really. Scarabs, Minotaurs, Sand Drakes, Griffons, even got a few Hydras! And some “big” surprises if you last long enough.
- ⇒ How do I gain points?
- The more rounds you last, the more points you gain. Simple as that. The special opponents which appear every fifth round will give you more points, and the further you advance, the more points per round.
- ⇒ Any advice?
- Your opponents will be random except for every fifth opponent where you’ll get a certain foe. After a while, you’ll be fighting more and more foes, and you won’t be given long breaks, so make sure you can fight groups quickly.
Deldrimor Arena[edit]
File:User Konig Des Todes Suggestion Map 4.jpg
- Map key
- Red=Player Starting point
- Blue=NPC spawns
- Style
1 on 1 on 1 Arena
Enemies[edit]
- Stefan
- Lina
- Claude
- Dunham
- Evennia
- High Priest Alkar + 2 Dwarven Sage
- Captian Hugo Bronozebeard+ 2 Dwarven Soldiers
- ____________ (Norn) <See below for the Norn’s purpose>
Questionable (Due to being in the Norn Tournament)
- Aiden
- Cynn
- Devona
- Mhenlo
- Eve
- Little Thom
- Alesia
- Orion
- Kilroy Stonekin
- Notes on Enemies
I gave these as examples, the idea is for the arena to work similar to the Norn Fighting Tournament, but with an additional foe per round. All enemies will have new, balanced builds, not the builds the common NPC version uses. However, there will be 10 rounds, not 5.
Like in the Norn Tournament, every NPC will have dialogue for the beginning, them losing, and them winning. Also, there will be spectators up on the cliff watching and cheering the various NPCs (and the PC).
- The Norn
The idea of the Norn is that he is like the equivalent of Magni the Bison for this tournament. However, he will be present throwing insults and taunting the fighters from behind the player (as invincible), until Round 10.
Round 10, unlike the others, will be a 1 on 1 fight – the player spawning not from the middle but from one of the sides this time.
NPCs[edit]
- Droknar's Forge
- Name: Dargan (removed NPC)
- Dialogue: Hail, human. You heard of the new tournament going on? No? Well, you should take a look in there.
- Location: Droknar’s Forge – near the exit to the arena/challenge mission outpost (i.e., where he used to be)
- Purpose: Allow access into the Challenge Mission Outpost
(Alternative: remove the barrier and allow walking access to the outpost)
- Outpost
Traders/Storage:
- Xunlai Agent
- Xunlai Chest
- Merchant
- Name: _____ [Records]
- Model: Deldrimor caster
- Dialogue: Ah, so ye be entering the tournament? Let me jot down yer name fer the entry, I’d get ye started and yer recorded. Huh? Why record? So we know how well entrants do ye fool! Din’ ye know the highest records get honorable mention? Ye daft fool, now that I got yer name, <character name>, be gone! Talk to _______ to get in.
- Name: ______ [Challenge Starter]
- Model: Deldrimor ranger
- Dialogue: Greetings tall one. So you’ve heard of the new tournament, eh? If you got any questions, I can help you.
- ⇒ How did the tournament come about?
- Ah, now there’s an interesting story for you. Not too long ago, a big giant calling himself a Norn came from the north. It was a sight for those who saw him coming – he ripped through the Stone Summit like breaking a frostbitten limb! When he got down here, he was welcomed with open arms for taking out so many of those nasty summit folk. After he had a few dozen tankards of ale, he went on boasting about how he fought in some tournament, and it got some dwarves thinking and the Norn and Captain Hugo got this tournament made.
- ⇒ So, what are the rules?
- The rules be simple: You go in alone, and have to fight two other opponents. They won’t be working together though – it’s a one on one on one tournament. If you are able to get to the final round, it will be a one on one with _________. Beat all the opponents, and you win.
- ⇒ How do I gain points?
- Points are gained based on how fast you kill your opponents in each round. The faster the kill, the more points you get.
- ⇒ Any advice?
- Just be able to hold your own, and you should do fine. Sometimes you may be able to get opponents to fight each other, or you and another will attack the same opponent. It’ll be hard to tell how your opponents act, so be sure to think on your toes.
- Challenge Mission
- Name: __________ (Norn)
- Model:
- Dialogue:
- Round 10 start: So you’re the one I fight then, eh? You’re matches weren’t that good, I’m not impressed, and I’ve seen you fight! I know your style, you have no chance!
- Round 10 lose: Don’t be full of yourself, shorty, I just went easy on you, that’s all. Bear told me to go easy on you so I did.
- Round 10 win: I told you puny man, you had no chance. The Norn always win. Bear guides me to victory all the time!
The Crag[edit]

- Igneous Ettin
- Lava Spitter
- Lava Imp
- Nightmare
- Wave 5&6
- Mursaat Necromancer
- Mursaat Monk
- Mursaat Elementalist
- Mursaat Mesmer
- Jade Armor
- Jade Bow
- Notes on Enemies
The enemies come in large waves, the final wave consisting of Mursaats. There will be one boss per wave (signaling the end of the wave). The bosses of wave 1-5 should be randomized except the last wave (wave 6) which should be the only consistent wave. I suggest more bosses than waves to allow randomization.
NPCs[edit]
- Ember Light Camp
- Name: _________
- Model: Shining Blade warrior
- Dialogue: <Player name>! What timing, we could really use your help over on the island known as The Crag. Some of our scouts have found something you’d want to see. Trust me. I’ll take you over there when you’re ready.
- Location: On the docks

Traders/Storage:
- Xunlai Agent
- Xunlai Chest
- Merchant
- Name: ________ [Records]
- Model: Ennis Granitestrider
- Dialogue: Hurry to stations! We need to prepare fer defense! We must defend ourselves and our new friend. <Player name>, remember, ye gain points based on each wave you defeat and how fast you defeat them, the bosses give more points. If ye get high enough points, I’ll be sure to record it. Now let’s get movin’!
- Name: ________ [Challenge Starter]
- Model: Shining Blade caster
- Dialogue: <Player name>, it is good to see such a person here. We have a big chance to find out about the so called “Unseen Ones”. A Mursaat by the name of _________ as willingly surrendered in order to be given the chance to survive the prophesized genocide of their race.
- ⇒ So, why is it good to see me?
- Well, we got a bit of an issue. It seems that _________’s actions are hated by the rest of the Mursaat. Our scouts have seen the Mursaat driving the wildlife of the Ring of Fire Islands – who would have thought there was wildlife on these hostile lands anyways – right to us!
- ⇒ I see… what will I be facing?
- It’s incredible what kind of creatures are heading to us, from Lava Spitters and Dark Flame Dryders to Drakes and Mahngo Hydras. There are even Flesh Golems heading our way!
- ⇒ Any advice for me?
- Most of the creatures deal fire damage or burning, so bring something to aid against that, and don’t forget to prioritize targets.
- Challenge Mission
- Name: __________
- Model: Mursaat caster
- Dialogue: <Player name>, you must keep me safe from these beasts and the other Mursaat.
- Purpose: If this NPC dies, the mission is lost.
- Name: ___________
- Model:Shining Blade caster
- Dialogue: <Player name>, I don’t have time for you, I need you to protect us!
- Purpose: If this NPC dies, the mission is lost.
- Note: This is the same NPC as the Challenge Starter.
- Notes on the allies
This situation could easily give some answers to questions on the Mursaat. How this would be done would be the interrogation which would happen behind the players – a series of questions that have been asked about the Mursaat in the past on lore forums could be the questions asked and answered by the two key NPCs. An example question would be “How are the Jade Armors powered/controlled?”
