Collector Dialogue[edit]

Mostly Prophecies collectors. Excluding those in Perdition Rock and in Sorrow’s Furnace, every Prophecies collector basically says “bring me x number of y item and I’ll give you one of these” – or if it is an armor collector and your playing an expansion character, it would say “I was collecting y item, but I ran out of things to give out.”

This could be improved drastically. From Pre-Searing to the Southern Shiverpeaks there are 117 collectors – 32 of which are armor collectors. This is a perfect way to add small lore tidbits throughout Tyria. A bit of lore on Wind Riders, a tad of lore on dryders, and so forth. The 32 armor collectors have twice as much of an opportunity as they could have a dialogue referencing the normal one – for instance, let’s say there’s one researching something for a theory, if you’re playing an expansion character, he could say something like “hey, I was researching y item to see if z theory is correct, and it was! I no longer need them anymore, so you can sell those to a merchant.” or say the theory was wrong.

Collector’s items[edit]

Outside of festival collectors and the occasional collector that gives consumables or the Tormented weapon guy, most collectors are seldom visited by high level people. Why? Most likely due to the fact that just about every collector is the same. You get generic skins with generic names with generic mods. There's no reason to get the weapons outside getting weapons for low levels or if your account got hacked.

So I'd like to see a rework of what collectors give, and doing this alongside the dialogue changes would be the perfect time to do such.

For example, I'll take Sander the Gray and Norin Stonegrimm, two dwarves collecting the same item. At the moment, they give armors, let's say we want to give them weapons instead. Firstly, change their dialogues:

Norin Stonegrimm
"Those blasted dryders! Evil bunch they be. Me brother, Nord, once got sick by them venom, nearly killed ‘im too. I wish ta wipe 'em all out. Say, if ye get me 5 Frostfire Fangs, I can fashion some fancy weapons to help ye kill more of those buggers"
Sander the Gray
"Hail human! Want to join the DPP? What? Ye don't know what the DPP is? It be the Dryder Protection Program! They just be innocent creatures of unknown origin. Brutes like that Norin Stonegrimm don't see that they be needing protection. Say, think you can get me 5 Frostfire Fangs so that I... What are ye looking at me like that for? Yes, I be needing some fangs, but I'm not hunting them! I need them to fashion antidotes to their venom, maybe then people won't hate 'em so much."

Norin's items could then be changed to Poisonous <weapon type> of Dryderslaying - unslavageable poisonous and dryderslying mods (akin to the Charrslaying from Eye of the North). Sander's items would be changed to a Rune of Purity and shields/foci of Dryder Protection (defense vs. Dryders). These would be unique items which are themed to the NPC.

Another way to go about it would be unique skins - such as the ones available only through Tolkano at the moment, or normal skins for unique attributes (such as a unique form of daggers which look like dual-wielding axes, or a staff that would usually be solely for a necromancer usable for other professions' attributes).

New Collectors[edit]

There are currently 30 Trophies from creatures which are lacking collectors. These could easily be given collectors and in turn additional lore to them or the creatures who drop them.
