Feedback:User/PhoenixDown/Item Suggestion: Personal Items

It would be awesome to put in more personalised aspects of the game, one way of doing this would be to put in a specific personalised item or heirloom for player characters. These items would not need to be "equipped" but need only sit in the players inventory to be active and the personal item could be optional, designated at character creation.

We've all seen these personal items used in odd and humorous ways in movies and other games, like Indiana Jones'/ Jack Sparrow's hat or Mario's lucky cap; but this hasn't really been seen at all in an MMORGP. Putting them in would add loads of humour and dynamicity into the game along with edging the experience up for everyone. There would be nothing more thrilling than sprinting back through a mob because you couldn't stand to leave without your lucky pair of dice.

The item could convey a small personal bonus (due to it being of some personal value and history), e.g. slightly more chance to get lucky and crit/ rare item drop/ evade/... and would be more unique to the character, it could be any odd piece of trash or treasure (a bottle cap, an ace of spades, a ring) although this would probably be a difficult task to provide variety. No player aside from the owner would be able to pick it up, but if dropped an NPC from a mob may be able to pick it up and run around with it for a while.

If in possession the item could give a small bonus, but if dropped would provide a minor debuff to the player till they get it back. In combat the item would have a small chance to drop or be stolen by a mob member (The item would not be able to be stolen by bosses for obvious reasons, only mobs and minor monsters) and if stolen the NPC in possession would carry it around until they die. An indicator of this could be an icon that hovers above said mob member to indicate who stole the item.

If by some merry mistake the player leaves a major area without their item, it will disappear but they will not have lost it. Players will find that it always makes it way back to their home instance in the space of an hour or two and they need only pick it up again.

This dynamic would probably be optional as there might be people who would dislike having to chase mobs to get their item back but it would still be a great feature and I would love to see it in game. --PhoenixDown 06:06, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
