Problem[edit]

One of the main things I hate about PvP are wait times. What's worse is that if you attempt to multitask while waiting (such as doing chores or minimizing Guild Wars to use other things on your computer), you can miss when the match starts if it starts earlier than expected, or you can simply forget that you even had Guild Wars open. Either way you miss out on play time and look like a leecher in the process, gaining automatic dishonorable points as well as player reports.

Solution[edit]

Implement a new option under sound: "Announce when entering matches". A voice says "You have just entered a match,", "Match entered", or something along those lines whenever you enter a PvP match. This way you can do other things while waiting to enter but once you've entered, you are given that reminder/warning to open the game. Beneath it would be another option, "Announce only when minimized". This would help if you are at your computer doing other things when Guild Wars is minimized and for those who don't want to hear it every time they enter with the game in focus. The announcement only would override "Mute when Guild Wars is in Background". Everything else would still be muted but the announcement.

Even further[edit]

You could apply it to entering missions as well, as PvE easily turns into waiting games. Perhaps there would be checkboxes (O) and the options would be as follows: "Announce on entering: O PvP matches O Missions O Explorable areas". Then you could control exactly what you want to hear. You could also have a drop down box that says "Announce 10/20/30/40/50/Default seconds before". This would control if you want to hear the announcement as soon as you enter or only when there is a short period of time left on the clock (remember that when you enter an area, you are given 60s before the event actually starts). Of course it would not apply to entering explorable areas.

This also could be ported to Guild Wars 2 seamlessly.
