Feedback:User/Qaletaqa/Replays or in-game video capture

First of all I know GW2 will be an CORPG/MMORPG.

A replay feature would be nice so that we can video capture the event after, why? because running a video capturing program can give some serious lag on older and/or cheaper systems, and that isn't fun for people.

And/or maybe also offer an In-game video capturing system wich saves a .avi or whatever popular format you want on the player his/her pc.

In other games I love having the replay feature, i've never seen an MMORPG offering such a feature so it might be hard to implement.

In WC3 (Warcraft III), when you save a replay you have a tiny .w3g file saved on your pc wich saved the players actions and everything else happening on the map.

So what I would suggest is that in GW2 maybe save the actions and all other things happening in a radius that would be visible around a "player that is recording", everything outside that radius would not be recorded, so when a player wants to look at a replay that he/she recorded that it would be possible to view it from different angles from where their character was/is standing. A bit like observer mode in GW1 but a file would be saved on the pc of the "player that is recording", so that it would possible to record it with video capturing software at another time if that isn't implemented also.

Pros:

  • We wouldn't need a third-party program to document our gameplay.
  • If only a replay feature is offered we don't have to run a heavy third-party video capturing program at the time we are actually playing the game, we could then do it later.

Cons:

  • Alot of programming needed.
  • Offering a video capturing system could end up beeing to costly.
