Feedback:User/Replect/Making appointed skill kinds more sensible

Well, I will start with the existing thief skill Withdraw you could have seen at PAX East 2011. For those who don't know what skill I'm talking about, followed the description for that:

Retreat backwards to heal. 12 second recharge.

So, after I have seen a lot of thief videos yet there is something I thought there should be a (little) change, which would make this skill (and similar ones - if existing) more sensible to use in combat. I will start with the possible description for the Withdraw skill after my change:

Retreat/Roll to your currently moving direction to heal. 12 second recharge.

So, I will stay with the skill Withdraw now. The problem is, that you always retreat backwards. So, if you have foes in front of you, as well as in the back, using Withdraw is kind of strange, rolling back just into the foes behind you. Or, if there is already anothe space between you and your foe, there is no need to roll backwards.

My change would mean in practice. You retreat in the direction you are currently moving to. So again, if you have foes in front of you, as well as in the back, you could check the situation and for example start moving to left/right, activate the skill and you will retreat to left/right and heal. In the second case, you need to heal but have already anothe space between you and your foes. So, now you could use the skill in a more offensive way, moving forward, activate the skill to roll forward in front of your foe while healing yourself, possible to attack him again right after that.

So, such kind of changes would give these kind of skills a little bit more complexity, but therefor also more flexibility and some tactical possibilities.

That's it, I hope my explanations are understandable. The last open questions after these changes would be for me:

What should happen if you are not moving in any direction? Heal without rolling in any direction or set a default direction?

Does this changes make some concerning skills needed to be balanced again and if, how?

Note: Im just talking about the Withdraw skill, because that was the first skill I recognized the possibility for changes in this direction. I don't know if there are more such skills.
