Feedback talk:User/Replect/Making appointed skill kinds more sensible

If you prefer to go left rather than backwards, just face your right. I think going backwards is a good mechanic especially for the thief, since it's a very mobile, fast, go-in-and-right-out profession. And for a healing skill, it makes more sense to be a defensive move rather than an offensive one. --217.129.133.230 18:26, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Sure, you could change your view before using the skill, but it's kind of strange and cumbersome (especially depending on your settings how fast you could really turn). Even more if I should have to turn 180° just for using that skill in a forward direction. Also I don't think giving it this tactical component would change the belonging to a defensive style overall.

Anyhow, thank you for your feedback. :-)

I don't know about GW2, but in combat in Oblivion, Dragon Age: Origins, GW1, and Europa 1400 (yes, seriously) I don't like being flanked. Ever. It's a bad idea, I can't focus on things - particularly if this is a more you-control-one-character sort of game - and there are often buffs that the enemy gets for hitting you from behind. It's just not a sound tactical position. So if there are tons of enemies behind me... I turn around. And I don't think it'd be too much trouble for thieves using this self heal to get into that habit, either. =/ There will, after all, more than likely be more than just one self heal out there for thieves. On the other hand, if you're fully encircled, you're probably screwed anyways, and the lack of bodyblocking means you might roll through the enemies behind you - which would be perfect. Because then you're flanking them. --Isolina 05:02, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, isn't being surrounded in gw2 a good thing? Pretty much every class has AoE Greep 18:38, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

I think that the skill is intended to be a defensive skill, rather than a movement skill. What I mean is, if it could move in any direction, Withdraw becomes a skill for moving around the battlefield, with a heal to boot. Going backwards only is ARENA's way of saying that they intend to move to be used to disengage from fights and not to engage others. I could definitely see rogues - er, thieves using withdraw to close distance with others and for general movement, which I think is not the intended use. --Thunderduck 16:08, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Yeah that's why I'd prefer withdraw as is. Consider you can move through players, so even withdrawing towards an enemy is fine so long as you withdraw fast and far enough. Greep 22:24, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
I'd just like to point out that there's nothing preventing a Thief from using this as an offensive skill as is. GW has a 180 button (x, I believe) and I have no doubt GW2 will as well. X->Withdraw->X and you've just used Death's Charge. (Forgot to Sign) --Atanna Charta 06:21, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
