Way too strong, especially when compared with Cacophony... King Neoterikos 04:50, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- I agree on that, besides why does the game need a AoE cacophony when it's mostly 1 or 2 enemies who use shouts and if there are multiple foes in a group who use shouts or chants Vocal Minorty's current function would be better since it's shuts down nearly if not all of them.Damysticreaper 15:51, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think the current effect for Vocal Minority is too much, but that's my opinion. Like, look at me, I'm a Necromancer, BAM, You can't use shouts or chants, BAM, you attack X-amount slower, BAM, now you attack even slower 'cause of this hex, and ontop of everything you have X-amount-omfg-wtf health degeneration. I like how Necromancer is the epitome of anti-melee/physical damage. And although I think they're the most gimmick and easiest profession in the game to play, they are what they are, and they won't be changed (being a core profession) for the sake of a broken expansion character. However, I think they should lighten up on some of the skills lol, to directly tell someone they can't use what it is they were made to do is beyond me. Ardangoeswiki 00:50, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Cacophony coupled with the fixed version I had suggested would be mean, however, it would be a little more helpful to those Necromancers that just sit and spam hexes all the time without knowing the effect of them. Kind of like when they first fixed Visions Of Regret, mesmers would couple Empathy or Backfire with Visions of Regret for that extra damage. I still think they should fix Soothing Images, but that's another story. That would be just like telling an Ele/Rit/Monk/Mes/Necro they couldn't cast a spell/enchantment/etc because they're hexed with this. Imagine if Necromancers had a hex spell for Elementalists disabling their Glyphs and Enchantments, or a hex spell for Necromancers where they couldn't cast a Hex spell, or to a Mesmer disabling his Interrupts. It's ridiculous. That's how Vocal Minority is to a Paragon. Or a Warrior with shouts on his bar. It's ridiculous. Ardangoeswiki 00:56, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- The reason why such a function excists is quite easy to explain, altough chants can be interrupted shouts cannot because they activate instantly. And since shouts have seen quite some buffing over a period (also keeping in mind anet plans to buff motivation) this is the only skill available to fully counter them (also taking into account well of silence wich can be easily avoided). Cacophony only deals damage on use but does not counter the effect. Your current function makes it impossible to fully counter shouts and chants. And keeping in mind that spell and attack counters are plentiful in the game and much more easily interrupted and countered (Daze and Blind and plenty of hexes and attack skills) shouts and chants are not. Keep in mind that removing the only skill that can counter shouts and chants could push them into the level of overpowerednes.Damysticreaper 12:46, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
