Feedback talk:User/Arghore/Add a 4 slot Consumable Bar (F7-F10)
+ 1 support. Good idea. I'm sure the bar could be made tasteful enough that is unobtrusive; certainly less so than the inventory screen. It would definitely be more convenient. In GW1, I hated having to open inventory in the middle of a quest or mission to use a consumable. Why not just make a tiny bar like the OP suggests?
Since the profession specific mechanic UI is placed to the left of the health orb and above the weapon skill bar, it appears there's an equal amount of currently unused space to the right of the health orb and above the utility skill bar. I think that would be an ideal location for it. Then allow a player to drag-and-drop whatever consumables they want to each of the bar's slots. As long as the consumables are identical, they will stack in each slot and display a small number indicating how many of that item are left remaining.
It's an elegant, simple solution which adds measurable utility to the game and would be relatively easy to implement from both a graphics design perspective and a programming perspective. Great suggestion :) Guild Wars 3 perhaps 02:02, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Good suggestion, but are hotkey bar icons necessary?[edit]
I like the versatility of this solution, allowing the player to quickly make use of consumables when needed. The only hesitation I have comes from using an additional four hotkeys and the corresponding screen space for what seem so far to be non-critical items.
Maybe it's because my characters are in their low levels, but so far the only consumables have been those that provide the nourishment buff - and these hardly need to be managed in combat or with any degree of frequency. I understand there are also cosmetic transform tonics and gem store boosts, but neither of these would seem to me to require micro-management at the same level as skills and profession mechanics.
I agree with the convenience issue you've raised though - using foods and consumables from the inventory is annoying - and this could be an effective solution. My thought is just that the problem (for me at least) is constantly having to manually refresh a nourishment item, rather than not being able to do it from the main interface. I'd probably prefer to solve the former problem than the latter. -- Avaera 22:18, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
