>bug<[edit]

your idea will give some bugs in the major thinking of time...

imagine: you start a super cool character at prophecies and he farms ale's, but he is already lvl 20... you want to keep him in searing, solution: you cover your ale's in the time capsule... you switch character's and go to the place, you walk out old ascalon and open the time capsule, take the ale's with ya and go away back to the outpost to work on your drunken title... you switch characters to the pre-searing character and... you can see that you're ale's are gone (logicly) BUT... how? no other account can reach it so they can't take your ale's, nobody did... exept that character from old ascalon who lived 2 years in the future! conclusion... the ales traveled 2 years in future! and diseapered into darkness!

but now... in fact, the ale's are taking away from the pre-searing in about 2 years... that means that the ale's must be still in the box! because you're character is 2 years before the other character... so you take the ales out the box and drink them up in pre-searing... so they dissapeared (in youre mouth) in pre-searing and are taking out the time capsule (filled) in 2 years! so you can simply double the ale's and that would be bug-using... and not only with ale's... with every item you can post in the time capsule!

and everybody knows that you can be banned from bug-using.

"ok... thats totally not a fact" pff. when arenanet would accept your idea and delete the bug... you will create a hole in time... its just not possible!

and THATS why anet doesn't allow a xunlai box in pre searing (+ the fact of armor and better weapons)

but you have a point about alliance chat...

if you wanna get into the whole "time paradox" thing then how about it's a well that you drop the items into and cannot retrieve until the searing, when rope-tied-to-a-bucket technology is invented.BO6B 23:34, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

that would avoid it but it would make ale farming alot easier, people don't have to delete their accounts etc.

Is that really a problem? People are always going to create a character to sear items with(which is also another "hole in time"), so why not just make it EASIER. The amount of people that would be happy with this idea would far outweigh the players that would be unhappy. Sending items to post, without the possibility of scammers taking your items BO6B 18:37, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

I would like to see the time capsule implemented. I have two accounts and can have both active at once so I don't have the problem of a 2nd party stealing stuff while swapping characters, but I have created characters specifically for transporting materials to post-Searing. Perhaps charging 10% of the value of the contents as a fee would prevent possible misuse. Separ 20:42, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Against the idea[edit]

I'm against the idea, although I think you are correct that developers could create a storyline/lore rationale for a Time Capsule's existence. I think this is an expensive-to-ANet solution for a problem that affects only smallish percentage of players and for which those same players have excellent or sufficient work-arounds already.

  • Muling is safer than you have suggested (I don't know anyone who has been cheated by mules and/or trading pre-gold for post-gold).
  • Historically, some guilds have offered to escrow items (and even mule them) to provide a safe exchange process.
  • You can get Prophecies for US$10 online and thus eliminate the need for a 3rd party (not to mention add storage panes/toons).
  • In an MMO, most players already know someone that can help facilitate a transfer from perma to mule.

I'd rather see ANet focus on issues that affect more players more often.

PS I recommend that you re-brand the idea from Time Capsule to Mule Service:

  1. The features you propose are identical to creating an in-game Mule.
  2. Since Mules obviously exist in the game now, there should not be any storyline or lore reason to oppose the idea.
