Feedback talk:User/Balky/How to remove Bots Gamewide
My understanding is that GW bots are separate programs that run alongside GW. If that is the case, then GW would need to start using a monitoring program like Warden or whatever it is that WoW and other MMOs use that sits on your processor and reads everything your computer is running. I remember hearing about that causing lots of problems; not just about performance and privacy, but also security issues. - HeWhoIsPale 13:42, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Zzz, Bots are part of the economy. We lose them, nd Fur Squares will be as costly as Rubies. --Neil • 15:49, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Use of 3rd party progs in GW is illegal, you can craft fur squares, you can salvage them so that argument is pointless on all accounts, drop into \ JQ game with 3 or 4 of them on your team and you won`t be so forgiving. Balky 19:13, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not saying that the use of 3rd party programs doesn't violate the EULA, I'm saying that ANet has no way of detecting the bot is running on a player's computer without making us install a monitoring program or building one right into the GW client. My experience with those in the past (as a legitimate player) has been less than good. I believe Neil's point is that the efficiency of farming bots are part of the reason some rare crafting materials are so cheap. - HeWhoIsPale 19:27, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
The solution perhaps lays in the command interface, a human player will be inputting commands via keyboard and mouse , the bot will not as its running it`s pre-scripted course using its skills as scripted, there`ll be no keystrokes or mouse clicks to detect, as for neil, his point is completely irrelevant to this topic!

- Thanks for the positive input to my actually quite valid question- So, How do you suppose you going about this "inputting commands via keyboard and mouse" would work, because (to my limited knowlage), doesnt it all boil down to computer code itself like binary, which can then be copyed and edited- at will, to make it look human?, well unless you mean something like editing the computer binary itself, then GL.--Neil • 19:05, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
They could also just implement random CAPTCHAs throughout the game. Not like bots will be able to enter them fast enough before matches begin. Previously Unsigned 00:59, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- The only problem is that would get really annoying. D: –~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) ←♥– 01:31, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
I know its a bit of a controversial idea, but how about an inbuilt keystroke/mouse input logger that ONLY activates when a ' player ' enters a competitive arena / explorable area ? For example , i enter JQ, logger activates to ensure commands are being inputted, if i enter the same explorable area say 3 times within half an hr it activates. If it runs within the GW dat solely there`s no issue with other external programs a user may open. Balky 17:13, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
