Flawless Victory...[edit]

So, trick is Assassin's answer to stances and flash skills? ^_^ --Falconeye 20:11, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Mainly an awnser to improve Deadly Arts but yes they are. Da Mystic Reaper 21:19, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Will Scorpion Wire cause Assassin to shout "GET OVER HERE!" like several non-shout skills do? ^_^ --Falconeye 20:05, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
Well i did redesign it to let it mimic Scorpion's skill as closely as possible within the capabilities of GW1, so to let the use shout "GET OVER HERE!" when it hits would be a fun addition. Would be even better if the assassin would receive Breath of Fire redesigned to follow Scorpion Wire (followed by the shout "TOASTY!"), the ele can have Expunge Enchantments so they have an enchantment removal. Is it possible to have allies shadowstep to assassin? In a recent D&D game, our party's stealthy drow-rogue used an ability to teleport a tanky warforged-barbarian (think terminator) to aid him... after achieving an ideal ambush/flanking position... and we execute the old "anvil and hammer" tactic. --Falconeye (talk) 07:55, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
So what you are asking for is a maintainable enchantment that when removed shadow steps you to the location of an ally. Recall currently does that but no one uses it because of it's drawback, and I'm sure the drawback is for a good reason. If you want to shadow step to an ally you can do that with Death's Retreat, Ebon Escape and this suggestions's version of Spirit Walk. I understand what type of skill you have in mind and it does sound interesting but it's a function that has already been nerfed in the form of Recall and any other variants that currently come to mind for such a skill (you teleporting/shadow stepping allies to your location) are all troll material. Preparations and Tricks[edit]

The way you have implemented tricks, they remind me quite a bit of preparations; the idea behind preparations is that you improve your attacks/attack skills. Tricks in GW2 are more like gambits/gadgets (i.e. Caltrops or Scorpion Wire), so I don't think that tricks is the best way to name a skill type that makes attacks better. I'm developing a skill type called "ways" that will be sin-exclusive and I'm thinking of extending preparations to sins as well in the same capacity as your currently implemented tricks. You could also make venoms (also from GW2) which actually do add effects to the next X attack skills, although that would require the renaming of a few skills (which I know you're not a big fan of). Upon revisiting the idea, I guess the "physical concept" idea is that you pull out specially prepared daggers that do weird things, so I guess trick works fine. Aqua (talk) 21:48, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
What i was typing for your first comment when you edit conflicted me:
I already mentioned in the Summary that i based the tricks on the ranger's preparations and the thief's venoms. I first wanted to call them "venom" but due to the naming limitation i went for the next best thing i could find, the trick. I am well aware that the thief's tricks are based around movement while the assassin's tricks i designed have been designed to support attack skills and function completely different. However such a difference in function and skill name cannot be a limitation (anymore) in my opinion, Glyphs and Signets function completely different in GW2 than they do in GW1, not to mention the new skill types who's names have been based on the names of GW1 skills and don't even resemble those skills in functionality. So why could the GW2 trick and be used in GW1 with a different functionality, besides it would be a whole lot better than renaming skills just to let them follow the name of a new type of mechanic (wich i am indeed not a big fan of).
Now the reaction to your second comment: You got it right with the "physical concept" idea. The term "trick" is quide diverse and can be used in many forms, a trick a comedian would use is completely different than a trick a skateboarder would use. Da Mystic Reaper 22:19, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Ways[edit]

Given that you and I are approaching the same big concepts from two different directions, I figured I would get your input on an idea I had, namely ways. I'm trying to do something similar to what I pulled off with incantations (once again, many thanks to your idea), but I'm not sure if I'm trying to artificially shoehorn the idea too much; your tricks seem to be having significant success, whereas I'm on the fence of whether I can fit ways into the existing system without making them feel tremendously out of place. Way of the Fox is especially awkward; "fox" means unblockable assassin attack, and therefore trying to limit it to a trigger only on critical hit seems kind of awkward. Any thoughts you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Aqua (talk) 04:08, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
