Anet already has these. They don't have to be NPCs. The Bot Detectors exist within the codes. I have an idea as to how they detect bots, but I'm sure Anet would deny it whether or not I got it right. ChaosBurst 02:03, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- "Be careful about those level 4 Skale Sniffers. Occasionally, they'll summon Dhuum to bitchslap you." :P I'm certain that ArenaNet has various programs, or "bots," running in the background. These programs don't run around as NPCs, but they do their jobs. --Riddle 03:24, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- I agree that they probably already have the code written. The problem is not there.
- The root problem is twofold: First, they don't DO anything about it. I've reported dozens and maybe hundreds of bots, but almost all of them are still playing.
- The second problem is that the botters learn what ANet is looking for and change their tactics.
- I wish someone in development would read this, though, because I know several foolproof methods of catching them. Problem is I don't know who to contact that will actually pay attention. (And no, I'm not revealing them -- someone MIGHT actually be reading here.) Daddicus 01:23, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- ANet guys: I'm willing to sign an NDA and sign over rights to the concepts I have to you guys. I just want the game fixed. As it is now, it's clear that you guys are losing the war against bots pretty badly. I KNOW how to catch them (90%+, anyhow), and the principles are timeless, so the botters can't change their actions to avoid detection.

- But, I can't write them out here on the off chance that the botters might read it and come up with something. I don't think it's possible, but there are a lot more of them. Send me an email with an NDA and/or rights-assignment and I'll sign it(them). Then we can talk and your lawyers won't have fits.
You're overthinking it[edit]
It's not difficult to detect bots. If Anet spent an hour on it, they could get rid of all the bots that use object-based pathing (which is what most bots in GW use). The problem is, that would require them to care. ~Shard 04:16, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
