Feedback talk:User/Darkshark08/Prejudice: Thief's lack of buffs/boons
Sometimes, classes without buffs or hexes are okay. Look at guild wars 1 for example, the mesmer may not be the more party efficient class (sure they have wide hex removals), but they can sure do a heck of a lot in PvP and against other parties (especially in 1v1). Paragons are more of a pve character due to their high amount of buffs, but their overall damage output is quite low, considering the paragon ONLY uses paragon skills. The thief CAN be a party-player if he does the right things for the party. For example, plucking a feather off of a moa bird to blind the stronger opponent your party is facing, and you have to consider ALL of the "stolen" environmental weapons and what they're capable of. But in all reality, what the thief needs is more weapons/skills for their WDS (weapon determined skills). They don't have a lot of skills which can depreciate the class even more. --Eclipse143 03:57, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
The only thing that makes the thief unappealing to me is that you cant actually rob somebody npc, pc, doesn't matter to me. the only games with thief type characters that i found addicting were the oblivion and metal gear stealth. actually using stealth, sound, foot prints, even smells in some cases were the funnest ways to rob somebody. taking the time to "case out" someones house to know when they were going to be out, and taking everything that looks to your fancy (oddly enough were rare books in my case).(what? i had to know what happened next in the stories!)
I sadly spent around 100+ hours in oblivion just robbing people of their rare books and valuables. this is the addictive rush i would expect of someone with "thief" as a job description. Stealing everything not bolted down to the floor, the rush of being caught and knowing when to back out into the shadows!!!
Even the bragging rights like, "I took this sword from the famous Logan Thackerays place!"

- GW2 doesn't have raids. The thief, though perhaps much less obviously so, does have ways to support the team. The above does mention that steal can create items that can give a support ability to Thieves. I'd have to check the GW2wiki, but I believe there are a few utilities as well.--Will Greyhawk 20:49, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Obsidiancat31, what you amount to describe amounts to legalized and supported griefing, something ANet has taken a stand against in GW1 and continues in GW2. I'd like to be able to craft or gather items and stuff and not just come back to my home instance to discover it's all gone and will benefit someone who neither made nor labored for them. In many ways, it's worse than PvP camping in WoW because nothing material truly is lost there.
- Anyway, I agree with Eclipse142 and Will Greyhawk. It's just not part of the Thief or rogue type's concept to buff other people. While parts of most fantasy concepts get broken in favor of game mechanics and design, this is something that should remain as is. Anyway, I think it's a fair challenge for Thief players to figure out how to be team players. One example used by ANet is for Thieves to use Scorpion Wire to rescue hurt or vulnerable teammates. It's up to them to figure out how to support their friends and I look forward to how creative they're going to be. --Messenger 05:41, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
