Feedback talk:User/Ealias/sidekicking exploit

Good point. Fortunately, in Guild Wars, there's no way to take items, gold, armor, etc. from a player's corpse. So even though it would be a bummer to have a player intentionally abandon a side-kicked player so they will die (if the mechanic is as you've described; they lose their higher level side-kickee status when the side-kicker leaves), at least there's no serious consequences for the side-kickee. Though I would hate to see one more pop-up message added to the game, they could have a screen pop-up on attempting to leave the area that says something to the effect of, "You're about to abandon your side-kick. Are you sure you want to do this?" Guild Wars 3 perhaps 23:49, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- yeah i see what you mean, there's no real consequences for dieing in this game (not sure how i feel about that) so even if it was a problem, it wouldn't be much of a problem. And sice there's nothing to be gained from doing what i described beyond angering someone/trolling, that does make it less likely. I think your suggestion for a warning sign is a good idea to remind people who might not realise they would be leaving someone in the lurch, but then again if you kept the sidekicked player at the higher level for a while, i think it would give the higher-level player more freedom, they wouldn't have to worry/be reminded about their sidekick if they want to leave and do their own thing. Then again, i can also see some potential exploits of the fix i suggested, e.g. a team of one high lvl player and one getting sidekicked who then un-groups and (easily/quickly) destroys mobs his own level for a minute for quick xp, rinse and repeat. Another thought just occured to me, having a warning sign might actually put the idea of doing this in peoples heads lol, maybe this thread did too :P Ealias 16:46, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
- Or you could make it automatically map the lowbie out of the area or to a safe spot and remove the sidekick status. Win-win that way. The higher level doesn't get stuck babysitting all day if they need to do something else, and the lowbie won't get abandoned in the middle of hungry monsters well beyond their ability to kill (or possibly exploiting the extra grace time for free exp/drops).
