This is a good suggestion. One of the things that caught my attention when watching the Gamescom pvp videos was the awkwardness of the current animation. Something that is at least profession-specific would remedy this and add to the unique identity of each profession. --Natearn 19:44, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

I agree with this 100%; the current animation - as Natearn said - does look very 'awkward'. Jarak 23:47, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Support for this idea. The first time I saw the animation, I thought it was the character dying and ascending in slow motion just prior to being resurrected back at their base. When I realized it was the finishing move, I was unimpressed. Even more so when I saw that the animation is the same for every profession. A slow-motion, gravity-defying, moon jump as a finisher? Yaaaaaaaaaawn.
Profession-specific finishers that are epic in their animation would be much more impressive and just plain fun. The OP's suggestions for such animations are good ones. I'm hoping ArenaNet has this on their "to do" list and the slow motion chump jump is just a temporary place holder until they can put the profession-specific animations in place. If not, then it should definitely be added to their "to do" list. Guild Wars 3 perhaps 00:35, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

and a ranger could shoot a volley of arrows up into the sky that simultaneously pierce the downed player's body. BEFORE this idea was: call upon vines to strangle the downed player. I felt that this was more "sylvari" rather than ranger.
Why not do both? Have the vines entangle the downed player - pinning them in place (yes, I know they're already downed and not moving...but work with me here) - and then finishing them off with the volley of arrows.
Alternately, what might be even more cruel and awesome at the same time would be to have the ranger...slowly, nonchalantly, and coldy...walk up to the downed player, casually withdraw an arrow from a quiver, nock said arrow, and then - point blank - shoot them in the face as their finisher. Or have them shoot five arrows; one at each limb to pin them to the ground before finishing them off point blank to the head. Epic humiliation finisher! Well... A ranger doesn't control all things nature (i'd assume) and only attunes to nature, but rather a sylvari does(assumption as well). And a point blank arrow shot to the face isn't as "visually appealing" because the animation is so plain, and so short-lived. Even if it was 5 arrows to the face, the animation itself would most likely only consist of the ranger drawing his arm back and forth... but the only solution to this would be to add some light particles or animations, so i'll update the ranger finisher to soemthing else.--Eclipse143 23:48, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
