- So how do you see this idea implemented? As an in-game journal? A public list of personal achievements? Player written biographies? (Xu Davella 04:13, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I think that this would be best implemented through in-game methods, such as an in-game journal that allows the player to quickly jot down their thoughts and experiences. It keeps everything together in one place. Again, I'm not sure how difficult that would be to implement as I am unaware of the capabilities of the game.
- Alternatively, a third-party site that can link to a player's Guild Wars account and could be created. It would likely be similar to a Facebook/Twitter page where players can log in using their account information and manage their "legend" pages outside of the game. It could perhaps be implemented through the userpages on this, or rather the Guild Wars 2 Wiki. Although, I'm a bit unsure about using third-party sources initially because it's so new and might not get noticed by any of the casual players.
- The goal here is to centralize and publicize player achievements and their personal experiences without much hassle to the player, which will bring a new life to the community. The Hall of Monuments keeps track of the player's achievements, so there's no need to re-invent the wheel in that department. But providing players a means by which they can give the story behind their achievements, including their experiences, and then share them would be awesome.
- Like I said, I'm pretty useless at concrete details right now :s, mostly just the conceptual model, but what do you think? Have any ideas about how to go about this? And thanks for the questions! It helps to have something to think about going forward :).--EuGenius 22:43, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think this would suit Anet's business model of GW being a casual players game - where if you don't have that much time in the day, you can still log in, update your status and let your guild know what you're up to while still having time to go and get something to eat. Am I right in thinking that your idea is leaning towards an RPG style of writing, where people actually tie their characters to the story of the game through autobiographies? So it would be like having a facebook account but in the perspective of the character instead of the user? (Xu Davella 16:42, 22 November 2009 (UTC))
actually there was a feature in the demo where you could compare your achievements with those of your friends, i think. should it go one step further? since all the cut-scenes are on your harddrive anyway, there could be an ingame "cinema" in your home district, which shows "your story" as collection of those cut-scenes to you and your visitors. i'm not sure if a cinema would be technologically too advanced for the gw2 style, but maybe a photo album on a bookshelf could do as well. still the photo album could show the cut-scenes and the pages could help navigating in the "memories of your past".(Tamora 18:12, 30 August 2010 (UTC))
