Feedback talk:User/Isuggest/steeds
An Asuran elite hinted at for is where the Asuran can summon a golem ally, which functions differently based on the profession. One in particular (warrior, I think) acts like a "battle suit" that the Asuran would climb into. Another (based on the preview trailers) depicts the Asuran being carried by the golem. As for steeds in general, I can see them working, and I can see them also causing quite a problem. The devs would need to really balance them to be effective yet not too effective.--Neithan Diniem 05:59, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
I just dont like the idea of steeds at all in GW2. As far as im concerned a steed is a way to get around the world fast, right? But you do that in GW by fast-travelling through the world map, i dont see why this would be changed in GW2. From a slightly more personal perspective, adding steeds in the way you mentioned would make the game more like WoW, and i detest that game. I know when on a mount in Wow you dont get special skills, but ... shupp :P. If these Asura gates that are apparently going to be the way you move around the world (however its implemented) if its done in such a way that you have to physically get to the portal, rather than double click on the worl map, and the portals tend to be a less than agreeable walking distance apart, steeds may well be viable, and i would accept them, but i think theirprimary use should be for mobility and nothing else. While on your mount, you can fight BUT at a drastic penalty to your damage output, i think this would be good because it means you dont get people running round at faster than normal speed but fighting as effectively as they would on foot. The special skills thing? yeah i could go for that, but maybe more geared towards mobility skills, like one that makes you move faster, like when riding the siege devourer in GW:EN you get the skill that gives you 11% IMS up to 3 times at once. And maybe one that gives you a better jump to avoid running round obstacles. But yeah... after all that, i generall dont like steeds and i think they would be a bad aspect to add to GW2, they werent necessary in the first one, why change that? --Jimmer123 22:19, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
I would like mounts aswell, however as Jimmer pointed out Guild Wars 2 will have waypoints which remove the need for mounts and replace them with a really boring system. I made a page recently on how awful waypoints seem, if you want to check it out [1]. Beef Mcnugget 18:49, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
I was excited to see a LEGIT 'mount' suggestion, most of the others copied the exact things in WoW, so kudos to you~! I however don't think steeds (also bonus for not calling them mounts) would be great for GW2, as both map travel and asura gates will be used. Though you deserve credit for at least giving some of your own thought into such an idea already overused and copy/pasted by others. ~Cookies~ 03:12, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm certainly sick of all of the "mounts" suggestions. GW provided a great contrast to WoW in many ways. I'd like to see GW2 do the same. I don't want to see ArenaNaet inching closer and closer until the only difference between the two games becomes their names. As far as "mount"able creatures within GW, I think they should be circumstantial. I enjoyed the siege wurms and devourers in GW. I liked that their presence was limited to a handful of zones. I'm sure a mountable horse in shining armor would be a "brilliant" idea, but only so if they are situational. Perhaps there could be quests involving racing, or speedy escape, that provide the option of mounting a horse (or other beast) to do so provided certain requirements are met. Or certain terrain may be too difficult to travel without the aid of a certain tamable/purchasable beast, or a certain location may be too difficult to reach without the aid of another beast (such as using a large winged beast to cross a great chasm or using a rather large fish, with a big mouth, to transport characters through depths unreachable without them). Otherwise, I simply see no purpose behind mountable creatures where they aren't necessary. Looking "cool" is fine but, by the time everyone else has the very same mountable creature, you'll just look like a fool. Besides, are you too old for "My Little Pony" by now?
