Nice suggestion. Just a small edit. Distortion links here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Distortion_(effect).

Also, to add some variety, I'd like to see the Ice field apply Crippled and/or Chilled rather than using Bleeding twice.Guild Wars 3 perhaps 19:55, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi and thank you, I corrected the link.
About the Ice Field, actually this is the one field I'm not a fan of. First, it is in the same elemental bubble as water... and as far as I know, ice magic doesn't really exist individually in the game world. Second, it is generally linked to the potent chill condition, which is effecting two game mechanisms at the same time (skill recharge and movement speed), something quite difficult to balance as combos. Third, instead of more general benefits, the current combo provides Frost Aura (previously called Armor of Frost), an elementalist skill chilling foes that hit you but in our case doesn't get enhanced with multiple finishers (blasts).
And finally there are presently no Earth fields, which are normally linked to the bleeding condition, sometimes to crippled, and are all about bludgeoning but also natural pointy things (stalactite, stalagmite, flint, crystal...).
Another hint that ice was a poor choice, only two skills have been found to logically generate such a field so far :
  • Frost Trap (Ranger) : an utility skill that could easily become a Splinter Trap inflicting bleeding (and maybe crippled) and creating an earth field.
  • Frost Ground (Elementalist) : the fourth skill from the staff under water attunement, which should become a water field.
Seems I will go update the suggestion with such thoughts and provide some earth field's candidate skills. Thanks again for helping me putting a finger on this. -- User Leonim Sig.jpg Leonim [talk·contribs] 16:26, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Errata, the current gw2:Spike Trap already does what could have done (and a bit more) the "earthly" Splinter Trap in my proposal. Hence a newly ligthning-based Piercing Trap which would cause Weakness and Vulnerability (while generating a lightning field naturally). -- User Leonim Sig.jpg Leonim [talk·contribs] 16:54, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
