Discussion[edit]

I understand that you want single-word names. But equally, you didn't state what is "silly" about the 2 two-word names you mentioned. I don't find them silly at all. Personally, I see so many unoriginal names, and it annoys me. It's even worst when you see people with names purposely spelt incorrectly just because they couldn't get the name they wanted. I would love for the name to have a spell-checker for all [nouns] and [adjectives]! Either way, I like singular names idea, it might spark some originality in to players... --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.158.200.58 (talk).

Well, the main thing only being that if everyone was named [noun] [adjective][noun] it would be silly, that's all. And I completely agree with you on names purposely spelled incorrectly, there are hundreds of people named something like Grim Reeper, The Grimm Reapre, I Grim Ripper I, X Grim X Reaper X ... It's really annoying. User MadSkillz1o1 sig2.PNG MadSkillz1o1 20:53, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
What about symbols? Not just X or I or singular letters, but stuff like "*&^#$%>}]|/?"71.255.114.114 18:09, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

I agree. I like the idea--Knighthonor 11:55, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Aside from names spelt incorrectly, you also have the names that are more like screen names or attempts at humor ("Roflcopter," "Babygirl321," "IMbadathealz" etc). Fine. People have the right to name their characters w/e they want, but I think the problem is not so much with the quality of the name, but perhaps the intent behind it: clearly those people aren't willing or do not desire to participate in a more RPG-ish experience, as say, someone who names their character "more appropriately" (for lack of a better phrase). I'm not suggesting people should have to pretend to be their characters, but part of what makes a game like GW fun, or what could make it so, is the ability to do so...but as it currently is, GW doesn't really enable that sort of playing. I'm not really sure of how that can be remedied (I know WoW has some sort of "Role-playing Only" servers, but I doubt everyone there plays like it). But yeah, I at least think there should be the option of including, or not including spaces in future character names. 74.79.132.108 04:00, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

This is already in game[edit]

At the Gamescom 2011 demo, people were able to have single word names. So no space needed. This suggestion is unnecessary =) Tomoko 10:38, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
