1,240,000 platinum[edit]

I was just estimating on this. I realize that the armors are made from different materials, the globs, shards, and 15k per piece being the tie that binds, but the above amount should be a accurate minimum. --Ravencroft0 11:02, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind shinier anything, let alone shinier armor, but, the reason why Obsidian armor is the elite-est armor of the elite armor is because the price is so high, not necessarily because it looks the best. Everyone has a different opinion on which armor looks the best, and it varies by profession, gender, appearance, etc. So far as the lore, the globs might be the only thing that can bind obsidian shards and more "common" materials like the fur used in ranger armor. Is that price right, btw? Seems like it might have an extra couple of zeroes... -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 11:55, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
I agree with all that you say, and, yes, there might need to be a couple more zeroes, but it is an estimated minimum. If you flat out try to buy all the items you need, then, yes, you will most definitely be spending a crap ton of crap heaps of plat. Serious players will also try to farm them too, so that cuts out some of the merchant cost by an easy 200k (again, estimated minimum). As for the lore, what you say does make sense and goes along with what I said as well, but there's no lore to prove, or disprove, it. I'd welcome any proof for it. I don't necessarily disagree with the blandness of the some of the armors (speaking of ranger armor, ranger obby is my personal favorite for the profession), I would just like for there to be readable or visible proof that ectos play an important part in the crafting of the armor other than, "Ecto globs are so leet, man. They so, like, need to be so part of the armor, man. And it huge amounts too, because that would be so leet." --Ravencroft0 13:37, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
I meant that you have too many zeroes. Ectos are 10k, right? The armor takes 120, meaning 1200k just for ectos. Shards are 5k (? haven't looked at those in awhile, might be less), armor takes 60, so another 300k. 75k for the crafting... The other rare and common mats vary, of course, but those should be minimal compared to the rest. Maybe you just meant 1.24 million "gold", not platinum? -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 13:48, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Mmmmmm, no. You only need on average 114, as all armors don't require 120, instead 105, thus averaging 114 ectos at a price I was basing off the pre-nerfing of a certain few skills that I shall not of speak( >.>....), 6k apiece max. But going back to do my math, the estimated worth is more like 1344k at an estimated minimum worth. You need exactly the same amount of obby shards as ectos at about 5k (max usually) each. 75k for the armor crating on average. And about 15k on an admittedly high average for the other crafting materials. If the armor is going to be worth that much, I want shiny, or something. --Ravencroft0 14:16, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
And then I feel like a dunce.... yeah, I meant gold. lol sorry dude. I'm tired so I'm going to log now. Anyone else who reads this page today, thanks for reading and please leave constructive feedback, agreements or disagreements. --Ravencroft0 14:23, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Sorry, I don't have it, so I was looking at warrior armor (first one), which requires 120 ectos and 60 shards. ETA: I see you noticed you were mixing your units. :) -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 14:26, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Don't know if that is allowed or not, but it's something of a fix... --Ravencroft0 10:41, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
You can edit your suggestions at any time. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 10:56, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Totally agree the armor needs a little something more. just because it costs the most doesn't make it appeal to me one bit , the fact tht it looks so plain is the one reason I will nev spend my ectos on it rather on choas gloves , tht's my 2 cents .--Captain of the army 15:45, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

The only problem would be trying to convince the devs that. Kind of makes you wonder if they even look at the suggest pages. --Ravencroft0 16:17, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
