No the warrior isn't supposed to be the class that deals the most ammount of damage. The elementalist is the one supposed to deal the most ammount of damage. The warrior's main role is to take in damage and keeping the aggro away from the backline but the current play no longer requires it to do so. Warriors are tanks but that does not mean they are not supposed to deal damage. When looking at the damge it can deal as a martial class you might want to look at the weapons and how they are used.

The sword is a varsetile weapon and mainly used for AoE damage trough Hundred Blades. The axe is a spiking weapon able to deal a large ammount of damage to a single target but less flexible than the sword. And as last the hammer is used to shut down foes trough knock downs, but that power leaves it with little damage.

Look at wich role the warrior can do best when it comes to damage, for the dervish pressure was choses, the elementalist raw damage. Second thing is to let it do it's job as tank again. Da Mystic Reaper 22:53, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Thats right, warrior is one of the best balanced classes in PvP... especially 8vs8 PvP, for RA in most case you need a monk, but most other class need a monk too, especially mesmers. Also you have to be a skilled player to play warrior, 'cause he has no classown condition remove and poor selfheal use rangers "Antidote Signet" or "Mending Touch" and it may work better, else same as above play Quarterknock, Axespiker or condition dealer/snarer on sword, you need conjure + elemental weapon to play sword, else -> damage too low. For PvE try Strenght&Honor, Judges Insight on your heroes in combination with whirlwind + 100blades, maybe try conjure also and if you play in team, great dwarf weapon combinated with drunken master this means AoE as Hell and every hit = 100+ dps --Kali Shin Shivara 17:16, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
I see that your coments have good points of view and thanks for the reply.

I want to talk about the warrior in PvP and i only going to talk about the classes without the second profession. There are many things that i dont understand why things are the way they are when we talk about the warrior.

  • Primary attribute of the warrior is strength, and with that we can do more 16% armour penetration (thats the benefict that strength gives to the warrior at level 16). Elementalists have skills that have 25% armour penetration (more 9% than the warrior), and they still have the benefict from their primary attribute.
  • The warrior is the only class in the game that gain no direct benefict from his primary attribute. I belive that strength should give adrenaline gain instead of armor penetration that is useless against high level foes. We can se that in the elite missions nowadays.
  • Elementalists still have spells that can absorve or deny more damage than the warrior and even so they have spells that can knock down players more easily than the warrior... and some of this skills are dobled (Teinai´s Wind) and (Whirlwind).
  • And most important is to remember that spells and touching skills don't miss...
What are the things that can be done to a warrior by spell casters for him not be dangerous in the game?.
1 - Blind. (Cannot hit target).
2 - Knock Down. (Cannot do anything... for a while).
3 - Cripple him or hex him with a speed reduction hex spell. (He cannot reach is target).
4 - hex him with spells that damage him in every attack he could do. (He probably dies before his target).
5 - Kill him when he tries to heal himself with (Healing Signet) (i was forgoting this wonderful skill) and dont forget that (Lion's Comfort) disables signets so you shouldn´t take them both.
6 - Spell casters can use a Block Stance.
7 - Dont let him gain adrenaline;
8 - Remove the low energy warrior have.
9 - Make the warrior attack 50% slower.
  • And in PvP probably a melee character can have all this things in a short period of time.
The warrior has 8 skill slots like every other class in the game. Lets see. For him to be eficient he should take a condicion removal skill, a stance or skill to prevent knock downs or to block, a IAS to spike targets (and how all IAS come with drawbacks he must take a IMS skill to get to target and as a cancel stance). with this he use 4 slots just to prevent some points listed above. Now he needs a healing for himself and a skill to remove stances. Six slots used.

He gets 2 slots for damage (if he dont have to take a skill to ressurect other players).

Now look at the builds of spellcasters. How many skills for damage they can take? And how many defensive skills they have that DO damage?
What are the things that can be done to a spell Caster by a warrior for him not be dangerous in the game?
1 - Daze him (he can still do damage but in a more slower rate).
2 - Knock him down (only reliable with hammers and they have condicion meeting or they are high adrenaline cost and have disadvantages in the end, and you must get to the target first...)
3 - Interrupt him (very dificult to do being a warrior because you must get to the target and you not take many interrupts).

Seing all the above i belive that is obvious that spell casters are a lot more balanced than the warrior. Assassins are also more balanced (they can do lots of good things in PvP). Mesmers have stances that can use to mitigate damage and can do lots of damage to melee characters. Dervish can do lots of damage and inflict lots of condicions (don´t forget that their weapons hits more than one target all the time, and this is not his primary attribute benefit). Rangers can do what roll they want with the energy cost reduction of expertise. And so on...

I agree when Kali Shin Shivara says that to be a warrior you should be skilled. With the current dificulties to the warrior and bonus to other classes the good warriors are without a doubt the skilliest players in the game. I know that skills aren´t going to change but i must show my opinion and tell to ANet that they screwed the warrior. If they dont agree with this they should prove me wrong. - Silvajef
