Errm, why do people want charr with boobs? If you just want want to see boobs then go ahead and look for some appropriate pictures in the internet. --124.168.168.7 00:04, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Hey,no need to affront me. It is a legitimate discussion here. If you are not grown-up enough, don´t comment on this subject.
You could ask "why do people want to see boobs on any female character?" as well - Why not just create neutral characters?...but I do not want to hold such a depate here
This one is for constructive criticism (and in either way you do not really see any boobs at all, rather cleavage or shape of boobs...)--Steves 08:13, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Alright I did not intend to offend you personally. I did say people because I met more guys who wanted to see charr with boobs. If you want a discussion here you go:
First conclusion of you: All female creatures have boobs -> False. There are even a bunch of mammals which dont have teats like the platypus. Besides as you said: All of the boobs couldve atrophied from the female charr.
Plantlike creatures dont have boobs -> Right, because they dont need them to feed unborn.
And then: "If the female Charr got their boobs back,I might ignore the faux pas with Sylvarian boobs;) (I am a fellow traveller of the Charr,as you might have noticed.)"
Either you are consequent and want the sylvari to have no boobs at all or just let it be. --124.168.168.7 11:23, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

I don´t know what you intend - first I would say you get registered so you can´t hide behind a simple ip.

Second, you agree that plant-people don´t need boobs.Thank you! one support for me :) (besides:first, mammary are not just to feed offspring and second, you don´t have to explain biological details to me...I have studied enough)

Who are you to tell me to be consequent?

You saw the little ";)"

This is a feedback-platform and no opportunity to start any personal "Vendetta" So,you are right and I am wrong. My shame--Steves 13:01, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Using a different word other then "boobs" coulda gotten you feedback page taken more seriously. That said, Anet designed the sylvari to be humanoid, and as such, to have genders. And since they have genders, Anet is going to design them with sexual dimorphism. Anet has even said that sylvari can have sex. They just can't reproduce this way. No, it doesn't quite make sense, but I think Anet is holding back some information, possibly including the nature of the sylvari and the origin of the seed that the pale tree grew from (as in, before Ventari and Roran got it). Plus, I think having the sylvari just be a unisex race in appearance would just be...creepy.--Will Greyhawk 20:37, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

why do female sylvari need boobs if they're plants? why do they need any human features, hell you might as well ask that nipples be removed from human male characters, after all they don't need them, there's no reason for them to evolve with nipples. the sylvari are a humanoid plant race, that should be enough of an explanation. Some possible explanations:
  1. The Pale Tree grew from a seed planted by a human who was grieving over the slaughter of his family but chose the path of peace rather than revenge. Out of deference, respect, imprinting, honoring of his memory (whatever you want to call it), the Pale Tree formed its offspring to mimic human anatomy, if not their physiology.
  2. Ronan's particularly strong grief over the loss of his daughter may have left an especially strong psychic impression on the Pale Tree, which then created a female likeness in the Sylvari.
  3. The Pale Tree knew its offspring would someday have to interact with other races. It chose a form that would make them more easily accepted among those other races. Why Human rather than Charr, Norn, or Asura? Human was the race the Pale Tree had the most knowledge of (Ronan, the man who planted the seed).
  4. There are some plants that have distinct sexes. And I mean beyond having male and female reproductive structures on the same plant; there are some plants where the entire plant is considered female or male. If you were to wipe out all of the plants of one sex of that species, the entire species would become extinct because there would be no way to reproduce. So male and female Sylvari is not so far fetched. They may not be able to reproduce at the moment, but who knows what the future holds for the Sylvari.
As for the Charr females, maybe they do have breasts. But not being a primate species, they're probably little more than 3 pairs of nipples hidden beneath all that fur.
Remember, primate species have greatly exagerrated breasts compared to other mammalian species because primates evolved the ability to mate at practically any time of the year as well as having much longer developmental periods. Thus they must be ready to feed offspring at any time and for many months after being born (other mammals are eating meat or chewing grass within 4 to 8 weeks after having been born).
Most non-primates have specific mating seasons and, when not in season, have no need to put energy and resources into maintaining mammary glands. When was the last time you saw a non-pregnant female cat with prominent breasts? Never. Thus the Charr females could very well have "breasts" but they aren't prominent if they aren't pregnant. The Charr page explains that the designers wanted to get away from the stereotypical "Cat-head, Human-body" type of races. They wanted to be unique. With that, they decided to have the Charr female have barely visable (if at all) breast region. The page explains it very well. Obviously in real evolution, a cat-people may end up evolving 6 breasts or 4 or 2. Most likely, it would evolve less breasts, as off-spring of more advanced animals become fewer per birth, hence needing less milk glands to be available.
The Slyvari on the other hand, on their page (as well as the list above), it is explained that they took the form of Humans for speculated reasons. They do not reproduce sexually yet, and it is unknown if they can. They are only 25 years old and quite possibly unaware about... attempting. All in all, I think the lore that is on the official pages covers the angles so far. I'm quite happy with the decisions. Wazwolf 05:44, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
