The game already rewards titles far too much.[edit]
The game already rewards titles far too much. --Emkyooess 14:23, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- It does? Out of 32 titles in the game atm, only 12 grant benefits. Of those, 8 are allegiance-based skill benefits (6 of which, arguably, are over-powered and should be nerfed/removed).
- In this proposal, each month only a single one of the tens of thousands of people holding a particular title will be noted...and they will not receive any benefit. Instead, the tonic simply changes the appearance of any player's toon (without attribution). The summoning stone is similar to the Mercantile summoning stone; it calls forth a 30-min ally. In either case, individual players would still have to earn the tonic or stone. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:26, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Same problem as the Guilds idea[edit]
Randomly nicking someone's skill bar is, imo, a bad call. A F K When Needed 18:57, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- Tell me more? It's meant to be silly/fun rather than wonderfully useful. You disapprove because it's 90% likely to be useless to the drinker? or it's intellectual property theft? Or? If any of those, do you mebbe have an alternative? (I like the idea of the tonic; I agree my implementation suggestion leaves something to be desired and then some.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:26, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- All of the above? Online I tend to be somewhat aware of people randomly yoinking information about me when it doesn't feel right (whatever that means) even if it could never be traced back to me. Human beings are funny I guess. Or maybe I drank too much earlier.
- If there's some opt-in thing, e.g. a window pops up and asks you the next time you enter an outpost after getting GWAMM and you can later change your choice in F11, I feel it'd be fine.
- If it's just silly/fun, will it be used? A F K When Needed 20:17, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- All of the above... That's fair. Re: silly/fun — every tonic is silly/fun; they only get used for lolz and (sometimes) a coolness factor. Adding an opt-in factor probably drives the coding-cost of this idea into something serious...so maybe this is an idea whose time will not come. Let me think more on it before changing the details. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:37, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
