Could even link your change of home city into your personal story. A Charr who goes against the grain of his or her general racial propensity and prefers, instead, the natural Grove of the Sylvari. Or an Asura who becomes enchanted by the snowy desolation of the Norn's Shiverpeaks. Then a backstory is added to the character's personal story as to what led them to make such a radical departure from their racial/societal/cultural norms.
