OK a lot of this is just random ideas I had, but the main point is all in the first paragraph - the Lich is stupidly easy after slogging through Hell's Precipice. It wouldn't take much to make him not only more challenging but also more interesting to fight (and I don't mean add 4 to his level and give him a skill which does 200 damage with a recharge of 1).
