  • If you die, you will lose this effect, but not your drunkenness; if resurrected, you will resume the drunk emotes and phrases.
  • This effect makes it easier to time the use of PvE skills that work better while drunk, since it provides an easy way to determine if you are drunk (or not).

  • The name Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Grog is a reference to the song Dead Man's Chest (frequently known by its recurring line "Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum")
  • "I'm a pirate and I'm okay. I drink all night and I steal all day." is a reference to Monty Python's The Lumberjack Song.
  • "I been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king! I likes pirate best." is a reference to the Frank Sinatra song "That's Life".
  • Several of the quotes ("With yer head on me shoulders [...]", "Stagger, stagger [...]", "Dyin's the easy way out [...]", "I'll kill anyone who [...]") are from the film Yellowbeard.
  • "I'm the king of the pirates!" is a play on words of the "I'm the king of the world!" drunkenness quote.
  • "What will ye do with a drunken pirate, ear-lie in the morning?" is a reference to a famous sea shanty known as Drunken Sailor or What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor?.
  • The lines "It's all good fun, 'til somebody loses an...argghhh!", and "Me pants are filled with starfish..." are from the film Muppet Treasure Island.
  • The line "Red sky at morning..." is a reference to the old sailors' advice/warning, "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning.".
